Wolves 1 - 2 Liverpool Verdict Thread

Any chance we can drop any discussions about a poster who doesn't currently have the right to reply please? It has sweet fanny adams to do with the game.

Brilliant performance, although it was disappointment not to take any points, I love watching us play when we play like that, when we are on our game we are a joy to watch.

Seems harsh to dig anyone out after such a performance but I am still concerned with Dohertys form, apart from the block near the end of the first half I thought he was generally poor again, he looks out of position a lot, then turns and runs back very slowly. I think if they don't trust Giles yet they definitely need another wing back at least so there is some competition there as I see Doherty as a bit of a weak link at the moment.

I don't think that he has been fully fit all season. Missed part of pre-season and he mentioned himself in November that he was still not 100% after going off against Arsenal.

My money’s on Kenny sorting them both

Can we stop this now, please? Especially seeing as a moderator has already had to step in.

Back to football chat, thanks.

Anyway, one thing to point out is that McManaman was actually tolerable last night. No idea whether he's been pulled up on his BS but I didn't really notice him during comms and that's always a good sign as I'm so easily annoyed by commentators!

I suspect the level of abuse he has received since his last co-comm appearance on one of our games didn't help. Then he noticeably stumbled a bit when the first chant about him went around the ground last night.

What a performance, even with the loss.

We were magnificent in the pitch and then ended up missing a couple of very good chances.

With Jota and Boly fully back I believe we could have taken that.

EDITED - Some people are going to moan, regardless.

Yeah I noticed that :icon_lol:

He's been appalling every time I've heard him (the first time being the opening day draw v Everton last season) so if he has wound his neck in and actually started to do some research, this is no bad thing.

Still hope he fucks off to Talksport and stays there but baby steps and all that.

There's no way they'll have him at Molineux again, especially is it's made very clear than the chant will be heard again if he does show up.

I know that others aren't particularly fans of his but I enjoyed Clinton Morrison as a co-commentator on FiveLive last night. I know that it should go without saying that they should have done their homework but the amount of time others roll up with and haven't can be shocking.

He explained what Coady's path into an England squad would be, how Boly would improve the back line and add competition for midfield places, areas that Traore can be improved. None of it would be any sort of insight for a Wolves supporter but at least it would educate a wider listening audience. His excitable nature was just the job for the radio too.

The incident in the second half when Traore chose to shoot early rather go at Van Dijk left both commentators oh no-ing. They compared it to Fury vs Wilder, the contest that every neutral wanted to see but Traore shooting meant that they didn't get see who would get the upper hand.

Yeah, Morrison is alright. He was like a kid in a sweet shop interviewing Nuno a few weeks back. Providing he calms himself down in that scenario moving forward he should get bigger games.

I think everyone was desperate for Traore to take it past van Dijk in the second half. I got the impression he was knackered at that point and the early shot was a sign of tiredness.

Will he be at Old Trafford next week? We'll sing it again if he is.

Big improvement with our corners last night as well, not before time.

I'm not going to pick faults with that performance because I thought we were superb. I've not seen Liverpool look that uncomfortable or rattled for a long time. They know they were very fortunate to come away with 3 points. We were the better side.

We were a joy to watch at times and to boss possession like we did in the 2nd half was brilliant. Was that REALLY Wolves? Controlling the game against the European champions and arguably the best team on the planet right now?

Weird to say that I enjoyed it even though we have no points to show for it but all I ever want to see from Wolves is a good, positive, committed performance and we certainly saw that.

Biggest downside? The excellent Pedro Neto is less than half my age. Ridiculous.

this.

All of it

Every word

he is a third of my age almost!
