Wolves 1 - 1 Hull - The Verdict Thread

It seems a bit over the top but I quite like it!

On the other hand, the mish-mash of shirts in various colours visible under the kit looked really bad.

I liked them. Really nice addition.

Just seen the highlights, I didn't realize all the talent Hull still have; Davies, Jelavic, etc. We've done well to play them like we did. Very encouraging.

Jelavic still looked really good, quite a few PL clubs could do worse than snap him up.

Huddlestone is an odd one, he was awesome two years ago but abhorrent last season. Not sure what to make of him.

Thought Huddlestone was phoning it in a bit yesterday. It's always a question of attitude, not ability with him.

He was linked with West Ham this week Huddlestone. Not heard if it's concrete though. Saw a few people moaning about Hause giving then pen away, but having seen it I don't really have too much issue with him, you're taught to get close to who you are marking and I think that its better to get close and risk maybe one pen a season than not get close and give goals away, if that makes sense.

Sounded like we played fairly well on the radio anyway.

It's a penalty every time. If he does it again I'll be angry.

The reason he found himself in that position was because he wasn't close enough

It's really not a penalty at all. He's got caught out but then he's done what you're supposed to do and get close to the player and ease them out. It's not a push and it's not a foul but Davies makes the most of it and in this day and age referees fall for it too much.

Unfortunately it was a penalty as there was a definite push of the arm - if he had been closer he could have eased into Davies without needing to make an obvious movement.

Having said that it was all probably unnecessary as don't think Davies was going to get to the ball anyway.

Stonewall penalty IMO.

Apart from the pen and the chance where Akpom burns past him, I thought Hause had a decent game. Very pleased with the way he brought the ball out of defence if Hull sat off us. He's got a few more games before Batth is back in training, if he shows some improvement and cuts the silly mistakes from his game he could make that position his own.

I'm amazed that so many people have been dragged in by the way Davies goes down. Hause doesn't push, he literally just eases into him which isn't a foul, it's what you are taught to do if you aren't going to win it. He's not going to let Davies get a free header but as Davies goes down screaming the referee falls for it, maybe he should just have grabbed him with both arms.

Davies has been around long enough to know when he might get the advantage given & will go down under those circumstances - a little naïve of Hause's part, though wouldn't criticise him for that as long as he learns.

There was, however a definite movement of his arm into Davies back with enough daylight for the Ref to see it - whether that was enough for Davies to go down is another issue
