Wolves 1-1 Everton: Verdict Thread

Everton weren't scoring if there were 20 minutes added on, it's only because Bentley made a very poor error that they broke through.

We can be annoyed about the time Coote added (amongst other things of his performance) but once the number is up, that's how long you have to hold out for. We slipped, as we do.

It's not that today was wrong, its that the rest of the season has been and only with two games left they decide to change things.
I get your point, but still struggle to get beyond our keeper practically chucking one in

Collins is clumsy, dopey, with minimal aggression and can’t coordinate his feet and body. I don’t think any of those traits are particularly coachable. He just doesn’t have it

For sure, I see them as two separate things anyway. I'm not blaming injury time for Bentley's error. Rather highlighting how the PGMOL are being inconsistent. I'm half wondering if next week they'll revert the injury time thing back again, a la Leminas second yellow.

It was an appalling decision by Lopetegui not to bring Raul on and he knows it. It was a nothing game for us and he absolutely deserved the chance to play, even if it was only 10 minutes.

As for the result, I’m far more annoyed about Everton gaining a point than I am with us dropping two points. Jammy bastards.

Can’t get my head round why Moutinho, Jonny and RAN didn’t even turn up. Fair enough Moutinho can say he doesn’t want to play if he’s got deal somewhere, it’s not like we were desperate for him on the pitch, we’ve got plenty of options there. The other two wouldn’t be in squad anyway. But at least turn up to the game? Sasa did

My only other thought is maybe Moutinho has personal things going on? He seems the oddest one to not turn up and say 'farewell' when he's out of contract.

If we are considering Kilman, Collins or Toti for next season, we might as well bring Coady back in.

He is better than all three of them. Quite easily too.
Harsh on Toti who I think has been very good.

Kilman & Collins are abysmal and we should be looking to recoup any transfer value we can now while they still have some left.

£20M on Collins looks as bad as the £27M on Guedes to me. He'd had one Championship season and then half a season at Burnley playing shite football while they bombed out the league. Who's the better player, Collins or Sanderson?

Well exactly. He’s the only one definitely going, even if it is clear the other two aren’t wanted.

On the personal thing, maybe. But surely they would just have said that?

I'm no fan of Collins either.

He was piss weak when Calvert Lewin had his half chance into the side netting, at no point did he look like he'd win the ball.

In possession he seems to need 2/3 touches just to get the ball under complete control which is really poor at this level.

Dawson was having to hold his hand at multiple points in the first half (I sit lower NB so was more noticable for me then)

Really not a fan of him so far, hes a young player and i get that but I'm yet to see any sort of standout characteristic, reading the game, strong, distribution, organisation etc - even in glimpses - that has made me think he's worth persevering with.

I think he looked better than he is playing a stripped back role in Burnley's low block, asking him to play this system will be as productive as asking Sa to.

Collins certainly looks more like his ceiling and style is more Craddock/Breen than Richards/Lescott. I expected somebody who was technically good who we'd have to work with to make a good defender, but he's really just poor-to-meh at pretty much everything

Strikes me that Keane and Tarkowski have also been pretty terrible since leaving Burnley.

And yet Ben Mee has been a revelation for Brentford!
Competent, no nonsense centre halves aren't difficult to find. Until January we've not looked for one. Tarkowski is fine, Keane is another whose confidence has been destroyed

Totally agree.

There’s been a big trend of the “ball playing centre half” but, in honesty, it’s only really the top sides that need to do that. We play with Lemina and/or Neves so deep, they’re literally picking up the ball off the defenders from three yards.

Craig Dawsons distribution has been more than fine - and he’d probably be put in thr “traditional “ centre half category.

If no nonsense centre backs cut out half the mistakes “futsal Max” makes - I’ll take a couple of those every week all day long.

Bring back Paul Butler.

How lop has kept up is a mystery because we don’t look any good. Toothless up front and not great in midfield and according to this forum shit defenders. I think harsh is an understatement yes we’re jittery at times but we ain’t playing Gornal Athletic

I dunno man I’d fancy just about anyone against Southampton.
