Wolves 1-0 West Ham: Verdict Thread

Great effort from Podence, would love to have seen that go in

He meant it, of course. But on all those clips you can hear the SB, most of whom attend every game, and they weren't sure.

I seem to remember my reaction from the North Bank being “what the actual fuck is that shit Ruben. Fuck, actually that’s magnificent “

By the way, on the "disrespectful" thing (I have no interest in getting involved in this specific debate about the pass :D ) it really isn't about shutting down discussion.

When people shat all over the work the best Wolves manager most of us have ever seen* just because he happened to no longer be our manager, or as in last week, it was basically said that Joao Moutinho had been shite for 18 months, that's disrespectful and deserves to called out as such. I mean in Case B it's not even true.

*I hope Bruno Lage takes this title some day. He has absolutely miles to go though.

Being disrespectful is criticising an entire body of work (i.e. Nuno), rather than in this case critiquing a single passage of play.

We can all point out the occasional shite Beatles song - its not being disrespectful to their amazing legacy its just pointing out that, at times, a little less acid might have been good.

Ruben was on acid?..... makes his performance even more amazing

Sorry mate, you're way off on this.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone shit all over Nuno or his work on here, at most you've had varying degrees of criticism of his final season, which I think is proportionate.

We all recognise what a great man he is personally, and I think everyone to a man or woman would have been happy enough if we'd started this season with me.

The shutting down actually happened last season too, when even constructive criticism was met with the 'homesick' / 'credit in the bank' malarkey

And as for Moutinho, I didn't say he was shite, I said he was similar to Adama in that he essentially hadn't done a fat lot for a couple of seasons. You're free to disagree but it's hardly that controversial.

And on the subject of respect or otherwise, what I really object to is the selectiveness. This isn't objective respect we're talking about, it's very much filtered through the prism of whichever forumite is playing the card.

Doc cost us buttons, and under Nuno drained every drop of his ability out, being an integral part of that 'best team most of us have ever seen', contributing to plenty of great team performances in the Champ, PL and Europe. Adama holds our record PL assists for a season. Haven't they earned any credit and respect?

I think you are missing the point, or perhaps you misunderstood me.

(and i certainly wasn't aware/didn't remember what DW and Prawnking are talking about now)

I felt it was disrespectful to draw the conclusion from that pass that Neves had fucked his shot up rather than a wonderfully executed pass.

Especially when you consider all the evidence (aside of what you see with your eyes), like his previous form for shooting (in that if he does miss the target he doesn't miss like that) or the unbelievable passes we have seen in the past (Burton, Leicester, etc.)

The bloke is incredibly talented, of course he can fuck up at times, but it was clear from how he executed that and the position he was in with his body shape and his head that he intended it, it's disrespectful and in fact as Johnny said, ignorant to draw any other conclusion in my opinion.

I had to watch Doherty from 2011 to 2017, I don't forget that easily :D Plus we were having to set everything up around his four goals a season, that wasn't sustainable. I gave him credit for turning around his career from bad League One full back to international footballer, though 1) not being overweight as a pro footballer should be a given, and he was overweight for years, which is outright unacceptable and 2) he's gone back the other way since he hasn't been indulged in the same manner. I doubt a Championship club would sign him right now.

I would say it's fairly easy to say that Adama had one rubbish season (year one), one good one (year two) and two where he hasn't played badly in general but the figures look very bad for him superficially (last year and this).

Point of order:

Doherty scored 7 goals over the course of the 18/19 season in 45 games. (with 10 assists)
Doherty scored 8 goals over the course of the 19/20 season in 50 games. (with 5 assists)

You know I don't count cup goals as opposition is variable :D

He never scored more than 4 goals in a league season for Wolves, albeit he did become very consistent at doing that (managed that in each of his final four seasons here).

It was nothing like enough to compensate for how we had to set up the team to cover what he can't do. Four goals is nothing really. If you've got an Ian Harte who might get you 12-15, then maybe. Old ground though.

It really isn't, it's akin to not loving your wife just because she forgot to pick you some shaving foam up whilst shopping, it's a nothing, an insignificance !
Reversing your evidence argument, how many times as Neves (or Huban, as Semedo calls him) not shot from that position, under identical circumstances.

Well you should, because one of those fuckers was in the FA Cup semi final (and one of his assists)

Our charge to the Semi Final of the FA Cup and Europa QF was some of the best times of our Wolves supporting lives, so i don't think you should just dismiss it out of hand just to suit your agenda.

Nuno, Doherty, Adama.
We just need to weave in Fabio being a waste of money / generational talent (delete as applicable) and we can call TWF bingo all within the space of an hour
