Wolves 1-0 Reading: The Verdict

The back needs re-enforcing and quick tonight's clean sheet was a fluke imo, EEL will never be good enough at this level his reading of the game is appalling. I'm sounding like a broken record but Batth looks lost unless he's partnered by a more experienced vocal centre half. I think I could do a better job at times than Matt Doherty.
Ball retention and distribution from the back 4 tonight was amateurish which kept us under persistent pressure, David prutton said it commentary if they play it into wide areas or Afobes feet it'll relieve some pressure.

The main positive is we stay clear of the bottom and just 2 games until the board show us what the intentions are for the rest of the season.

It was a dreadful game and we got away with 3 points. I fully expected to lose so another positive there.

I still think Byrne is doing pretty good when he comes on, maybe as good as Graham but for some reason doesn't seem to able to get a run in th team. Graham i realy like the look of, first half he was pretty good, but tbh second half he put us in trouble quite often.....but then so did most of the rest of the team. Personally I would have gone with Price and Coady in CM and just rely on Graham and Byrne wide with any 2 from Afobe, Alf and Wallace, we have nothing to lose by giving Wallace a run. McDonald is doing less than Edwards atm

It was a disgusting game of football to watch.

I watched it with my mrs' dad who is a Rangers season ticket holder, and he said both teams looked really, really poor - except we had zero confidence and they did, but thankfully had no end product. I thought that summed it up well.

We got deeper and deeper and we're just punting the ball forward towards Afobe who had no chance. There was no quality and no positives to take from the performance - thank God we got three points because if we hadn't won it would have turned nasty.

Shocking stuff.

I said at the time, the sale of Stearman left us with lack of depth and experience in defence. Promises were broken with investment. I will not blame Jackett for that.
I have no experience in profesional managment or coaching and prefer to trust the judgement of top football coaches who say Kenny Jackett is a very good coach, over people who critisize from a football forum, with no profesional experience in managing a top profesional league club.
The vile hate towards our own players from some of our supporters, sickens me, even before a ball is kicked.
Steve Kindon, George Berry weren"t the best in the world, but we got behind them. Do you know why, it's because they wore the old gold Wolves shirt.

I have no idea what you're on about Trev, everyone would like nothing more than for us to start playing great football and winning games convincingly. Doesn't seem likely though. If you think that 1-0 travesty papers over the cracks then I don't know what to say.

Oh and I hope the next manager doesn't pick Edwards as quite clearly he is a rubbish footballer. No justification for him being in the team, it's genuinely like playing with 10 men. If you can tell me what he's offered in any of the last five home games, I'm all ears.
I'm not making excuses just telling it how it is, we are in a situation we've been in many times before, until the Manager is replaced and the current scapegoats got rid of nothing's gonna change.

That was the 70's, today's professional footballers couldn't give a shit, look at KMac for example.

You do realise you are posting on a forum don't you?

No-one has a go at the players at the game anyway. The fans have stuck with this (terrible) team all season. That doesn't extend to never criticising them in any form in any media after the match. That would, of course, be absolutely ridiculous.

Rightfully fucking so! This isn't like Mick's second season when everyone was clamouring for Freddy and hating on some perfectly decent footballers. The inadequacies of this team are clear for all to see and it's got fook all to do with the supporters (who have been magnificent this season may I add).

Stearman's sale has left us light at the back but not in what we need as like the rest of our centre halves he didn't dominate and lead the team. Surely you can make your own mind up about Jackett and not listen to what we say or what top football coaches say. By the way some top football coaches/people think Saunders is a good manager and that he is not.

There's no hate towards our players either, not rating someone doesn't mean that you hate them and i can say now that Molineux gets behind every single one of them and until today had really got behind Kenny but there was only 1 small chant for him today.

Yes, but I am not pretending I know more than a top profesional football coach.

Just seen this after my post, also don't think that just because people are professional football coaches that they are any good. Make your own mind up by actually judging their decisions with team selection/tactics/subs etc.

The supporters at the matches I have been to have been patient and understanding. They have been fantastic.

So we should blindly accept what we're told rather than critically engage with what we see on a weekly basis? Another key difference is the cost of football today; football fans now spend hundreds if not thousands of pounds on football per season but fans should continue paying that obediently whilst players end up thousands of pounds better off.. Can you not see why resentment may arise? Just because a respected coach said Jackett is a good coach? Jackett has proven in every job he's had the third year is his Achilles heel. Read Swansea or Millwall fans thoughts and its like fucking groundhog day.

I agree support has been superb recently particularly from the South Bank but we're in limbo, we need a new owner, new Manager and new players because as was shown in the build up thread after the team was announced we're fucked before a balls been kicked.

You don't have to be a professional to see that results have been poor. If you don't want to hear other people's opinions why come on fan forum. If you want Kenny's professional opinion it's in the above linked interview. I think the fans have been generally very tolerant this season, Preston aside abusing Morgan. I think a lot of people just feel lied to and disillusioned with club as a whole at the moment, the dross served up on the field currently only proves a lot of people points and concerns raised.

Yes, but when posters slag players week in week out and our last 5 managers have picked the same players, who do you believe, profesional league managers or posters on a football forum?
I of course agree with peoples right to express their opinions, but the hatred shown to a few of our players before they have kicked a ball, is taking it too far.

I have read that Alan Hinton was booed on numerous occasion, as the the guy who's name escapes me that competed with Knowles for his place, so cut the sanctimonious crap
