I think that is fair. Not a problem exclusive to Traore that one though is it? Outside of Jota and the much maligned Doherty there's rarely been much movement in behind under Nuno. Neto isn't great with his movement off the ball either, often stays too wide in places where it's easy to receive but difficult to do any damage.
It does often appear that there is scant amount of coaching done on the attacking side of the game. Same issues constantly being repeated from game to game by all manner of players.
But using the example last night where Robertson recovered. The ball came into Neto in midfield and there was a gaping hole for Traore to attack. Any pass and he’s in on goal, he’s the fastest player on the pitch. But for some reason he delays and Robertson is already in top gear as he’s sensed the danger. So when he finally does make the run Robertson is able to get in front and stop him.
Now this doesn’t even statistically register as a chance and wouldn’t make any highlights package but this moment with even average execution from Neto and Traore would probably lead to a 1v1 with the GK and the best chance of the game for either side, but it never even materialised.
I never have, still can’t and never will understand how a player playing at literally the highest level (and elite coaching all his life) can’t do things that I’d expect you or I to be able to do.
