Wolves 0-0 Newcastle - Verdict thread.

Does anyone have the know how to find out how many touches Hwang did have in the second half?

Just re-signed the deal haven’t we?
Few months back, another 2.5 years I think?

When I saw Newcastle's team sheet before the game I feared a comprehensive defeat. I certainly didn't think we would keep a clean sheet. Earlier in the season there's no way we would have.

We obviously lack quality but we at least compete now and don't look like a clown show. Only 3 points off equalling Derby now and with 16 games to go we should completely eclipse that.

Surprisingly Anthony Gordon did nothing to piss me off and stretched Rudi Voeller had a quiet game too.

After the shit that went before, its good to be unbeaten in 2026 and kept a couple of clean sheets too.

Can't see us getting anything from City next week but we should certainly be targeting Bournemouth at home in a couple of weeks.

We are going down. Just hope we can go down with some pride and have some kind of optimism going into the summer that things can get better and we put this sorry episode to bed.

Read somewhere recently that RPS said in a podcast that Nuno and staff found the Championship a tedious, long haul and were considering quitting if we didn't get promoted which, if true, doesn't bode well. Another concern is Nuno leaves WH and rocks up somewhere where he can have his own staff and takes RPS with him

Long drive home this evening, and pretty much everything has been said on here already. Which I agree with.

Slightly surprised Jackson is getting picked out for positive reviews. For sure he was not a complete disaster, but he’s so limited and limiting. Talking of limited players, I actually thought Bueno H stood out for endeavour and I’m a bit surprised he hasn’t been mentioned. He did well, in a put in a shift kind of way.

The J Gomes sub was a strange one. He was playing well. But you can’t knock an undefeated run given where we’ve been, however unconvinced I might be about Edwards.

Also, a weird atmosphere now. Not weird bad. Just… weird. The anger has gone, so I guess this is apathy. We’ve got a long time to sit through such weird apathy though.

Jackson’s totally pathetic positional play probably doesn’t come across on TV. He literally has no clue where to stand, where to run and what to do when he has the ball.
This is so true! He so visibly gets confused often about what his right sided midfielder is doing, and the upshot is he’s just standing in no man’s land.

Certainly see it from an attacking point of view, he does NOT know what run to make and when.

Defensively less easy to see on TV due to where the cameras focus, but given his lack of awareness i can only imagine.

However today, he used his pace well to get back and prevent danger, he is reactive.

We’re going down badly and are still a terrible side but at least we have shown some fight.
We’re definitely not the worst ever PL side Derby, Southampton and Sheff Utd were getting routine ass kicking’s.
We’re just a bit harder to beat now which is giving us a chance of picking up points. A PPG from now until the end gets us to 24 points. Still miserable but not humiliating.
Clearly evident that VP, Teti and Jeff well and truly screwed things up in the summer.
Better organisation and preparation and we’re probably sat where West Ham are.
Hindsight VP should’ve been pushed after the Leeds game.
Difference between us and Burnley is that game at Molineux and that’s it.

It’s dead. Took this photo of the row next to me, loads of season tickets holders just not bothering.

Santi's been decent too. I've not noticed him which is always a good sign for a centre back.

Thought he was soft as shit up against Woltemade but this current system hides a lot of his deficiencies. He does actually appear to be learning though, he was never a PL CB a year ago and now looks to be at least passable.

I'm on nights so didn't see the game, but with this squad and chosen formation 0-0 is the score you should be achieving at home against that type of opposition. You are playing 3 centre halves, 2 defensive midfield players and aren't going to create much as your centre forward isn't going to run the channels, your RWB goes backwards and one of your, in theory, attacking players is Hwang. Deutsch hit the nail on the head when he said it's difficult to read too much into what the management team are doing, but tightening us up is to be commended

I've been actually quite impressed wirh Bueno since he came back. Previously I tbought he was limited going forward (I wasnt seeing the output others were) and poor defensively, however recently he's been much better in both areas, dont know if thats down to Edwards, Silva or a combination of both.

I didn’t leave thinking I never wanted to go back and there have been quite a few games this year when I have felt that way. In a “normal” season this might look like a decent, hard earned point. This season, it is a small part of a redemption arc.

Sa, clean sheet…but not worked very hard. Couple of Sa moments.
Tchatchoua…I don’t know what people saw, but I didn’t see it. He has one attribute, rarely uses it. Can’t cross, passes backwards.
H Bueno…tried to carry the ball, also can’t cross. Decent effort when he found himself on the right to cut in and fire just over.
S Bueno…did his job but he is really meh
Krejci…ok, but really should be pinging long balls with some intent, most were just punts.
Mosquera…mad as a box of frogs, potential cult hero
J Gomes…still not hitting the heights of last season
Andre…good at what he does, but limited
Hwang…not a very good footballer, showed it today
Tolu…I honestly don’t think he is all that good. Rarely looks like he is going to score, scores rarely.
Mane…we didn’t get him into the game enough today, he was bright at times but spent long periods out of the game. He is the Cunha replacement we already had and probably should have been playing much earlier in the season.

We have become more competitive under Edwards but we are fundamentally a very average team. First priority is to overhaul Burnley and not finish bottom. In the circumstances, that wouid be a decent second half of the season.
