Wolves 0-0 Leicester: Verdict Thread

I thought we'd all scoffed at the idea of a relegation scrap?

It's not fucking about, it's trying to unlock this teams potential and longevity at this level. It's literally what Nuno's mission had been this season.
The table says different. It's my way of saying the part in bold. Your way is different.

I get your point, but I think the chances we created we're better.

You don't get points for that though. We still only had one on target. If you're happy with that then you must have very low expectations.

Let's not pretend this was Leicester at their best. No Ndidi, Vardy for half an hour after a hernia op. And we're the home team.

I'm happy with the solidity and point, but we're all fond of saying what a topsy turvey season this is (Leeds beat Leicester recently of course), so we can't just be 100% comforted with 'but they're 3rd', especially in a season where we've lost to Burnley and WBA

We got plenty of bodies forward, just not that many in the box. Though we did at times for both the 1st half chances, and Silva's.

Also what a lovely bit of play from Neves to craft Silva's chance. Fought to win the ball then a sly soft through pass that bypassed all their players. Best pass of the game.

Looked like he missed the target to me, irrespective of the save.

The “save” glossed over a Sunday league miss.
I don't agree. Their GK is world class. Pretty much any other one wouldn't have saved that. He saves a lot just like he did then.

Willian contributed nothing. Silva did more in his time on the pitch than Willian did. Yes, he should have scored but it was on target and it was a good piece of goalkeeping.
William's hold up and link play was very good in the first half. Fabio's isn't at the moment.

Some of the near post runs WJ made that took away defenders was also very good, particularly for the Traore chance, which was excellently blocked by Justin (MotM IMO).

To say he contributed nothing is silly.

A proper striker would have scored is absolute football fan bollocks. Every striker has missed from there and not had a keeper make a world class save. He should score but that just means if he has that chance 10 times he scores 8 or 9 or if he gets it 20 times he scores at least 16 times. He's had 2 chances in that sort of situation and scored one, missed one. If he gets chances from there regularly as he matures and misses then he has a problem.
Well sorry to chat “absolute football fan bollocks”, but I don’t think Jose misses that chance. I think he sticks it in the bottom corner.

Obviously we’ll never know.

I am happy with that, don't forget were without Raul, Boly, Podence, Marcal. A point against third and deserving to win is perfectly fine in my view. Having lost to teams like Burnley and WBA makes it an even better point imo.

Were you expecting us to beat Leicester? If so, why?

Sure, only lots (including me) didn't see where we were going to get even one point from these last 2 games. We got 4. Not a bad return under the circumstances. It's small steps on the road to recovery at the moment in a season that is strange to say the least!

We got plenty of bodies forward, just not that many in the box.

Which is a problem, as our primary method of attack is for Adama/Pedro to try to beat every opposition player and then cross into the box

It seems that way doesn't it. 4 points out of 6 when most thought none is shit clearly...
The thing is, no one is saying we have been amazing, just pleased at an improved performance (and a game we could have quite easily won against very good opposition)

Is Marcal the new messiah now Jonny is back? 😅

I've already said I'm happy with the point and result, we were just discussing the features of our attacking play.

It seems like some of you don't want us to and we should shut up and just be 'happy'

You don't need to be sorry, it's your opinion. I think factually it's bollocks as you've said you can't prove that a "proper striker" definitely scores and that's it really.

But some are seemingly quick to police anyone pointing out the positives...

I think its more a counter viewpoint than any policing.

I think it's more of a game we can analyse and get our teeth into than the Arsenal oddity

The 1 shot on target thing is a rubbish way of evaluating us too given we had an xG of over 1

Marcal is a very

Exactly! There's lots to work on. Even Nuno knows that. But 3 weeks ago it was massive doom and gloom on here, on SM, everywhere. We had massive luck in the Arsenal game as we all know, but look at what that did for team morale! It's not only a decent result against a very good team, but we played decent too, and like you say we could/should have won the game. What's not to like?
