Wolves 0-0 Brighton: Verdict Thread

They would have had to make changes, the setup they started with offered them no hope of a goal other than off a set piece. Incredibly negative, I felt sorry for Murray but equally he looks like he's just gone now. Proper old man.

Agreed, they only had one plan, no chance of changing mid game. I feel a bit for Murray, he had no team mate in sight for most of the game, and just resorted to falling over a lot. Very sad.

I still think we miss a left foot corner / free kick option. Especially yesterday where we had so many set pieces it all becomes a bit samey.

Perhaps Vinagre as he has a good foot. Imo Vini is going to have to be the first starter soon else we will lose him, not sure where that leaves Jonny tbh.

If we're especially brutal this summer we'll sell Doc and play Jonny on the right going into next season.

Doherty has had a wonderful season, probably better than any of us ever expected he could. But he's almost certainly at his absolute peak and it's only down from here. His value will never be higher.

Sell Doc, Vinny LWB and Jonny RWB, Giles to backup Vinagre and a new, Vinagre-esque youth talent to backup Jonny.

No-one with any sense will sign Doc unless they are planning to change their system to specifically accommodate him in the exact role he has now (seems unlikely). He would be an appalling RB as he is an appalling RB. Ireland have tried playing him as a "standard" wingback in a 3-5-2 - nope, he can't do that as he can't cross.

Valuable to us, more so than I ever thought he would be, two years ago I'd have gladly given him away for free as a he was a fat liability - I don't see how he works anywhere else.

You could have said much the same about Douglas last summer. Minus the fat liability part. We all pretty much knew he was no standard LB but that didn't stop Leeds trying to play him there.

And he's been largely rubbish for Leeds. Funny how no-one goes on about that any more.

However we got a moderate fee for Baz. We would want silly money for Doc. It won't happen unless someone is very stupid.

I was just going to say - not the best example alan!

That's the bit I'm counting on!

On the contrary, I think Douglas' lack of success at Leeds proves my point all the better.

We got £2m for Baz. That's within the reach of a lot of Championship clubs, which is also about the level of his ability.

We would want close to 10x that for Doc. No-one is mental enough to do it. He works for us (to a point) and that's as far as it'll go.

I'm not so sure. I think there are a few teams that would look at Doc, see that he's got 7 goals and 9 assists in 40 appearances as a "defender" (we know he's not, but will they?), and go "crikey, that's impressive!"

I'm never willing to discount bad recruitment in world football.

I think we are realistic enough to accept 10 to 12m if someone offered it. Utd are stupid and short of wide options ;)

I would take a swap plus about 5m of doc for Trippier! Rumour is spurs want doc and want rid of trippierThat I think would be good business

Trippier has totally fallen off a cliff. Horrendous this season for large parts, he's only saved as Aurier is even worse.

To be fair, Doherty has improved defensively this season. I know it's easier for him with Bennett right behind him but I think if you were to play him at RB he wouldn't be quite the disaster he was before.

Except his new agent may be able to set up a transfer which will set Doc up for life whilst bringing in an inflated transfer fee for us. I think Doc will leave this summer, probably abroad.

Doc doesn’t seem the type to be remotely comfortable in a foreign country (Ireland -> England doesn’t count).

Ignoring that, id also be surprised if he wasn’t here anyway

Brighton are at Spurs tonight. It will be interesting to see if Spurs can break through Brighton's parked bus and do something we couldn't do...score a goal.

HT 0-0

FT 1-0

Spurs score through Ericsen in 88th minute with a shot from 20yds
