He's already got plenty of it, and it's not like he'd be on minimum wage at Celtic, you'd fancy he'd go in as pretty much their top earner.

He used to go back up to Scotland after nearly every Wolves game, I imagine he does even more of that now it's a shorter journey for him, can't see him sacrificing the convenience.

"Break even" is such a misleading term - there is no need for a business the size of Wolves to have to "break even" on a year by year basis. Holding medium to long term debt is not a problem as long as it is serviceable so we could borrow to invest if the will was there. Not spending beyond our means would be a more accurate description of Wolves since Morgan took the reins and due to our time in the Premier League we have been able to do that through income, the loss of that income means alternative funding streams need to be identified which could include sale of players or careful borrowing.

That or get bought by someone very rich.

Sadly if there is no return on investment there comes a time when you stop speculating because you are servicing a debt with no extra revenues. Football supporters wont accept the explanation that no money will be spent and/or players will be sold because there is a need to service failed debt. If you keep gambling you could do a Bolton, Leeds, Pompey etc etc

I'd consider him to be a combination of broken and not arsed, still plenty of talent there but not much chance of it being any regular use.

Would never happen, but I would love Fletcher back here. There is still a quality footballer and goalscorer in there - the main reason why Sunderland fans are so frustrated with him.

Would never happen, but I would love Fletcher back here. There is still a quality footballer and goalscorer in there - the main reason why Sunderland fans are so frustrated with him.

As I said at the time, we got good money for him because you'll probably only get about 15-20 games out of him a season.

We did do well out of Fletcher, he was our prize asset and we could have easily got nubbins for him. I'm glad that it helped fill our war chest for the season that served us so well...

Probably didn't help much at Wolves that as soon as people realised he was good in the air the only service he ever got was stuff being lumped at him, remember a few games where he kept winning flick ons only to turn and see no-one chasing them so just gave up competing for them in the end.

I certainly don't think he's a model professional but he was a very good player for a team of Wolves' standing so could get away with it to some extent I suppose, that apparent lack of drive and his almost constant state of slightly injured have certainly held held him back from achieving more. Thought a better footballing side than Sunderland could've got a lot more from him but there seemed to be surprisingly little interest in him when he went there, probably because spending £10m+ on some balding Scottish bloke doesn't sound like a great move on the face of it.

Still a good watch when he's on it, increasingly infrequent now though.

I get that but at the moment we have 8 million burning a hole and enough gaps in the squad to make it look like swiss cheese. I will be really really pissed if some if not all that money is not spent improving this bang average paper thin squad

I wouldn't say he shat on the club, plenty of players up sticks following a relegation, he was pretty unprofessional with the phrasing but he was honest with the fans if nothing else and it didn't seem to do any harm to Wolves' negotiating strength.
