Winter Improvement Thread (aka Winter Squad Weakening Thread and TWF Suicide Watch)

I'm trying to find out a bit more on this. All I will say is he's a top lad, build like a brick shit house, and really eager to play.

He looked very strong when I saw him. Could definitely see that we were looking at him to come into the team in the near future. Alongside Williamson I think he is worth giving an opportunity.

Not a chance. Watch the Bolton build up video on youtube, he positively raves about Matt Doherty and his performances recently.

Deslandes will merely be there to take over Golbourne's 'sit on the bench as defensive cover' duty

v Barnet he looked good going forward. No idea about defending though, as he wasn't really tested. Did take the ref out with a challenge though

Wolves sold Matt Jarvis and Steven Fletcher for £22m+ 3 seasons ago. Both now moved on for total £2.5m. Jez Moxey knows how to do a deal

On that I reckon we will get Afobe back for £500k in 2 years....

Gillingham have rejected a £2m bid from Bristol C for, TWF favourite, Dack

It's not selling that bothers most fans, it's the buying part of the job which seems to be the issue.

What makes it worse is were desperate for a striker (and a left back - I don't believe for one instance Kenny really intends to play Deslandes if he can avoid it).

Jordan Rhodes has signed for Middlesbrough. Let the clambering begin...

I could understand the need if we were pushing for promotion or in danger of relegation but as we're neither we have enough to plod on until the end of the season.

Spot on Trev. Let Deslandes play the rest of the season with Siggy/ Bright up front or if neither are fit/ ready then get a loan in. Jackett will hopefully be gone at the end of this sop of a season and we can get a progressive manager in with a better style and ideas to make a good attempt at the play-offs next season.

Agree with that.

I hope you're ready for Doherty, ALF (who won't sign permanently) and another season of Ken & Kev.

I fully expect Jackett to be in charge on the first day of next season.

Not a chance of Jackett getting sacked. Say what you want about the style of play used to execute it, but he has turned around a pretty awful slump.

This for me too.

A slump that was his fault in the first place.

He has 18 games to prove that he deserves to keep his job and I have zero faith in him producing enough evidence that suggests he's the man to take us forward.

I suppose it depends on whether Morgan/Moxey are still in charge, the sale of the Club could see everything up for grabs.

I give him till October at the latest before the fans lynch him or Moxey as we languish in 18th after an eye-bleeding long ball first 10 games that yields 10points.

He doesn't though does he? You, I or anybody else on here aren't making the decision on whether he is sacked or not. Short of a a serious plunge towards relegation and we only need about another 10 points to stay up then he'll be here again next year. I have seen nothing to suggest that his job is under threat and I doubt we'll have a new owner by then who may change that.
