Winter Improvement Thread (aka Winter Squad Weakening Thread and TWF Suicide Watch)

Ah - didn't notice that!

Maybe he just needs to get away from this football club :icon_lol:

His career is over - a shame for the guy as he seemed to have promise but we will never know about that.

Serge Gnabry has barely got a kick at Albion - always a puzzling signing for Pulis, not his type of player at all. He prefers the likes of Craig Gardner and James McClean in wide areas which is frankly vomit inducing to me but I suppose it gets them to 40 odd points a season.

Anyway, that loan isn't doing him any good and Arsenal can't be pleased with the state of affairs. If there's a way that deal could be ended and he could jump on board here for the rest of this season with a view to being here all of next year as well I think that would be a very decent signing. Would certainly fit if we decided to go with more of a 4-3-3 - Zyro and him either side of a new striker.

If Serge Gnabry is not near the top of the list of potential signings somethings drastically wrong.

Fabbrini off to Blues for £1m.

We should be all over that.

No chance with Fabbrini or Gnabry, neither are 6ft+ or can head a ball.

Not really a fan of Fabbrini personally. We've made him look good a couple of times but generally he's all show, no product.

VLP is the new Ronaldo now but I thought his after match interview against QPR as slightly arrogant when for the most part he's been a drab failure. He can fuck off for all I care - you don't fool me Reggie. A quality wide player is on the same wavelength as those they supply and all I've seen this season is crosses put in with no real thought. We are a stats based team - put x amount in etc. etc. etc.

Given our system and method Edwards will be a massive loss because we seem incapable of not letting in two our three without him and Coady running round and doing what they are doing. It actually scares me to think we may go 4-4-2 again but we're safe so lets just go with the flow. We wont get any meaningful signing in this window but the club really should be looking towards pre-season and a new metamorphosis.

Agreed. The worrying thing is that it looks more and more like we need the best part of a whole new starting eleven the more time goes by.

I dread to think how much they spend on this that and the other with their glossy recruitment process but if the wrong people are pulling the strings it's all useless and pointless. The form of Golbourne is massively disappointing and he has no real back-up. Batth/Stearman were never the answer whatever anybody says. Ikeme (who I always thought quite capable) looks a confidence sulky type player that really should do better. There has been an abject almost ignorant failure in addressing these positions.

We really won't miss Edwards, his influence on games is negligible to the point you can forget he's on the pitch a lot of the time. I don't think his aimless running about helps us in an attacking or defensive sense. We'll need to find someone else to miss gilt edged chances from 8 yards or less out though and still retain the reputation of a goalscorer (I'm sure someone can replicate his 0 goals in 14 games form).

Clearly Grant Holt has set the trend for overweight, career-in-decline strikers. Old and very hungry...

FFS, another kids signed...

Hakeem Odofin from Barnet.

"HAKEEM ODOFIN
Full-back
First year scholar
DOB: 13/04/1998
Height: 6’3”.

Hakeem joined the club in the summer of 2014 and made an immediate impact. He is very quick, strong defensively and looks to get forward at every opportunity."

6'3" tall Full Back... Kenny is building his team of over 6' mutants

See Edwards is out for 12 weeks and Zyro for 6. Could Nathan Byrne and Jed Wallace finally get a game? Surely not...

Christ, Zyro injury is calf and described as "complicated between muscle and tendon." Don't say this will be Razak revisited...
