Winter Improvement Thread (aka Winter Squad Weakening Thread and TWF Suicide Watch)

It's only from the E&S but that's the way I took their story.

Wolves got bored waiting for him and have decided to look elsewhere, no mention of the player definitively turning the club down.

Looks like as far as we got was speaking with his "people" and the player showed little to no interest in wanting to play in the Championship. So off we go and look at someone else.

Wouldn't be surprised if we made a deadline day move for him if he is still in limbo at Ajax.

I really hope we do spend some of the Afobe money. Not in some hope we will sign a player or 2 that will send us flying up the table but simply to stop reading "told ya Morgan put the money in his pocket" posts and FACKTS

It's his club and his money, he can do what he likes with it. If people have defended the ambition of the club, it must be difficult now to say we've been taken for fools.
Morgan I think did have good intentions. He realised he would have to spend too much of his own cash. Nobody can blame supporters for feeling let down again. Like I don't blame supporters for not wanting to believe that they haven't had the piss taken out of them, by the powers that be.
I only hope that our present situation is resolved and someone who does want to take Wolves back where we all want, takes over soon.
I don't see any need for divisive statements by supporters. It is times like this, that the fans should stick together and get behind the players, who wear the old gold and black.

Is that right about his contract expiring in the summer? Could see a deal to the end of the season if that's the case. Three months for him to put himself in the shop window/see if he likes it here.

Yep. Hence why Ajax are happy to accept a few hundred K now rather than zero in the summer

Its an opportunity for a player to ask for a fair sized signing on fee. He will weigh up his offers during the final days of this window.

Scott Parker looking for a coaching job next season. Player \ coach? I have always rated him at this level he has some class. Best days are behind him but would bring lots to our midfield in terms of ......nous. Views?

Could get a gig in MLS while learning some aspects of coaching.

While KJ isn't exactly one for telling us the truth it's not hard to see there can easily be some element of truth in what he's saying there though, clubs know we have money to spend so quotes to us could well be higher than you'd usually expect. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't, but who could blame the club for refusing to be bumfucked on inflated transfer fees just because we've got a few quid knocking around? I don't know the ins and outs of who we've inquired about or what we've been quoted but I'd be happy if the club refuse to waste money now while we're going nowhere then invest in the summer.

Yes, we need players, but we aren't desperate enough to happily spunk ridiculous fees on players who would just bump the numbers up as opposed to genuinely improving the first team. We've done that enough already on the likes of Saville, Coady and Byrne (not that I believe Byrne is just filler but that's how he's being 'used'). I'm not defending the club's transfer policy either, it's been largely woeful for the best part of two years now, but surely while we're all lambasting them for wasting money on the aforementioned players we should be glad we're not going to do it all again now then regret it in August?

If you know you have players leaving, surely you make plans to buy the players needed, so you aren't left short when you sell a player?

What plans? Do you buy a player before the transfer window is open and before you've sold the outgoing player? No. You only put bids in when that player is gone, that's when you get the daft quotes back.

You have plans in place though, surely?

Plan would be to bid for a player. What happens then is down to the selling club and how much the club is prepared to pay.

Say we decide to spend £1m for a forward but the targets are priced at £2m then those plans end.

Sadly right now we are hoping someone has priced a quality item up wrong. We may have £8m due to us but we ain't going to be spending a lot of it.
