Wonder what has changed his mind. Can’t be the managerial situation. Can’t be the raft of new signings. Presumably some other club has done even worse!

Apparently because he's a fan of our managerial appointment, I wish I was joking.

Pretty much everyone thinks that both Sheffield Utd. and Luton will be relegated - nailed on people are saying . I'm far from convinced of that . One of them perhaps , but not both . I think Luton over the course of the season will stay up .

The only chance either have is using their home stadiums to their advantage one being a shithole and the other can be intimidating when they are up for it. Ultimately I don't think the quality is there and the noise out of Luton is all about how it sets the club up financially for years to come, a subtle hint that they are going to enjoy it for what it is but expect to go back to the Championship. They also will be a game behind everyone else after Week 2.

I think Burnley will be pretty comfortable, although they are the other team who will be a game behind early on.

Given how money focused and chase-the-cash the EPL is these days, I don't hate this.

Like, if this strategy works out, they'll better sustain themselves as a top half Champ side and have a more sustained run of repeating last season with a better squad. Much better than spending all the parachute payments before you get them then being in FL wilderness for several seasons paying off those debts

Also known as the Norwich model.

Nah - it’s more about getting the spades in the ground for a new stadium for Luton.

Luton are a very well run club. Strong academy so this should help them become Category 2 which they’ve been trying to do for a while now too.

Just noticed McNulty at the BBC has us going down in 18th.

Been a few seasons since we were among the relegation favourites with so many pundits?

A week ago I laughed at the pundits saying we'd go down, now I'm more twitchy, think it depends who comes in/leaves before the window shuts.

A lot of it is typical outsuder view, due to no Neves and no incomings, but it's a tad worrying so many are aligned in this view. Throw in our lack of goals and the manager downgrade and it definitely looks like an accident waiting to happen

Our early fixtures are extremely tough so even if Lop was still here I could see us struggling to get many points after 10 games. Trying to implement a new manager’s ideas will be hard in such circumstances. A bad start is very likely and then confidence will ebb away and we would then struggle in a seemingly easier run of games. Be a lot easier for GO if he could keep us trundling along outside the bottom three but currently I can’t see it.

The no Neves thing is pretty amusing. We actually got something right with the succession planning on that.
