Where will Wolves finish 2021/2?

Where will Wolves finish?

Top half would still be a great achievement and agree with TT more likely to be closer to 15th than 6th.
Disagree that top half would be a great achievement, it's the minimum I'd expect from the squad as it currently is. If you listen to the players talk about our consecutive 7th placed finishes they actually think we underachieved in those seasons, a failure to get European football of some kind for a 3rd season in a row would be viewed as a failure and likely see a lot of our best players leave.

I voted 11th - 14th.

Still think that's where we'll end up.

Our best eleven might get close to 7th but the drop off to their replacements ranges from not much to a giant gulf. Most replacements are a big drop in quality. Unfortunately we will get injuries and suspensions and have to play players that wouldn’t even get on the bench of other teams aspiring to get into Europe.

Tonight we have unavailable:

Neves
Podence
Boly
Jonny
Neto
Mosquera

At least four of those are starters in our strongest XI, aren't they.

We made the weird decision to loan out Gibbs-White, you'll have to ask them why they did that.

Any club struggles when they have that many players out. Man City have 15 senior players tonight, so Pep says. Maybe ADUG are also shit bastards who won't provide a "squad". This idea that you get key players injured and have a replacement right there needs to end, it's bollocks.

The difference is Pep's speaking bollocks and excluding players like Foden and Grealish who he says aren't fully fit, whereas in our case it's genuine

Well, they don't even have a proper striker despite being one of the richest clubs in the world.

It's what frustrates me about this endless frothing. Like you pop down the "Attacking Midfielder" aisle in the football supermarket and pick one up. It doesn't work like that.

I'm not defending our recruitment at all but Christ, our fans are tiresome.

I'd hope we strongly challenge for that 7th place again from the position we're in now. Probably depends where December leaves us.

Wherever we finish, I really want to end the season closer to playing how Bruno wants us to (recruitment notwithstanding).

No idea still. Somewhere mid table I imagine, the squad as it is with injuries, and the level it’s playing at isn’t at top 6 levels. I think the potential is there (we do have good players) and more so with recruitment, but we’re not playing to that potential and my expectations recruitment wise are very low.

After tonight we will have played the entire bottom half and only one of the top 5. We’re still in a very false position for me. Particularly when results havent neccessairily matched up with performances

I'm under the impression MGW pushed through his loan, and tbh, from his pov, it was the right call. MGW needs consistent game time now, not to be a perennial sub perhaps coming on for 5 mins here or there.
He probably knew he was 4th choice for midfield. He also probably knew his game time would be very limited.
I understand Lage did try to encourage him to stay, but MGW wanted first team football.

Thats what I understood and I don't blame him

Now we have the "top 4 " thread, lets just review the optimists.

All said top 10. With Pogo Danderfluff going higher!
I can only tell you where I've put my money.
Wolves to finish top half at 11/4
And Skybet had 11/10 Wolves to get more than 45 points. Well we got 45 points last season largely without Raul and being bloody awful to watch, so I had the biggest bet Sky would allow me on that one.
Norman is looking good for a payout though!

You also said the following with the benefit seeing the first few results.
I was very glass half full and have been excited by the approach from Lage. But the lack of squad depth really worries me as goes the lack of midfield cover. So it could be bottom 5. I thought we were 3 players off a good season and we failed to get them. We may lose stars in January.

I love a Cyber told you so post, safe in the knowledge all bases were previously covered. Yet didn't post on the definitive PL prediction thread

Yes, I wish I'd had his confidence for a top-half finish; served me well in our first season, did that. I did lump on with Bet365 at 5/4 to achieve > 44 points this season, so I really, really hope it doesn't all fall to shit

And whats changed? I am still bemoaning the lack of signings , still concerned about squad depth and think we are overperforming , even if I started optimistic. The caveat was to back Bruno. We have got lucky with midfield injuries.

Now I dont want a row but in this case , even if misplaced , our optimism was correct. Sa was an inspired signing. I called that 100% from the start. Others thought he was shit and missed Patricio. We haven't. Not a moment of it. I must get right under a number of yours skin for you to be trawling through posts in a desperate attempt to discredit me. Dont worry . I am perfectly capable of doing that for you.
love a Cyber post,
Well he hasnt posted for a while so you best get trawling.

So, I worried about the squad depth then ( still worried) Worried about midfield cover then (still worried) Thought we could lose stars in January (Lost Traore). I dont see why some get so bent out of shape. Just because my glasses are not rose tinted. Oh , perhaps its because I am not a season ticket holder so have little right to an opinion? Who knows.
