Welcome Jose Sa

I'm guessing about half the comments under that post will be:

"Class act" etc.

As if he had the idea off his own back rather than being told by the club.

I'm sure it's all clubs and I know it's not aimed at me but some of the forced social media stuff is cringey. Neves talking to Fabio after signing a particular lowlight. Guess it's just me being an old fart

When that was first posted it was @Cark_Ikeme loads of comments saying " I'm sure Carks over the moon about it, what's Carl ikeme think about it?"

So far so good in pre season. Once he gets used to the defence I think he will be even better. I like his footwork , even though it scares me and I like the fact he is always looking for a quick counter. I love the speed off his line and the fact he comes for crosses when he can. In Lages system he could be a real asset. 6m seems very good value

Twelve games in and not only have Wolves made their best ever start to a Premier League season

🧐🧐🧐

Maybe, just maybe, Fosun do know what they're doing after all?

Atm I'm happy with him (I wasn't unhappy with Rui tbf), different style to Rui but so far I can only think of one save he didn't make that led to a goal. Made some very good saves too. His distribution is excellent and does seem to have more of this sweeper/keeper attribute than Rui did. He does still worry me a bit when he receives a back pass, looks a bit blasé which has led to a few brainfarts but so far he hasn't been punished.
8/10 for me

A good place to say that his performances have proved my considerable concerns to be wrong. His kicking really has brought an extra dimension to our play and he’s pulled off some great stops (albeit some from opportunities he has been instrumental in creating). I’ve held off positing this not out of any reluctance to say I was wrong, more because of the incredible power I alone* possess to inspire a calamitous mistake the following minute or match from noting how well someone is playing.

*along with every other football fan.

Haha, me too, it's why I haven't ever mentioned we haven't conceded from a set piece yet this season.......oh bugger

Is he technically a better keeper than Rui ? No
Is there always a possible cock up coming from him ? Yes
Does he have better command of his area ? Yes
Do i prefer him in goal to Rui ? Yes

Some of the stats in that article are quite eye opening tbf, even if anything xG related is somewhat questionable.

They do seem to back up what most of us thought we had been seeing though - conceding a lot of goals that we probably shouldn't have been

Rui's still no slouch but it seems he's quite rooted in as a very traditional style of keeper (and to his line, lol) - Sa is much more in the mould of a modern ball playing keeper in the mould of Ederson - the point Bruno makes in the article about us being able to be more compact but still further up is especially pertinent given how we've been playing.

Rui is badged as a really good shot stopper but we've all seen him let in some very average shots
Surely all keepers have incidents which go against the general grain. Sa was rooted to his line from a corner (cross?) forcing Neves to clear for a corner that led to the first Brentford goal (I think....), but in general he does, evidently, look to get off his line and command the box.

There have been 4 goals that i'd lay the blame (some more than others) on Sa so far:

United at home (Greenwood shot very savable)
Tottenham at home (Gave penalty away)
Newcastle at home (lay on the floor pretending he was injured)
Palace away (came for a cross he was never going to get)

He was fortunate that neither the goal against Brentford was given and that he had Coady to back him up against Everton too.

For me he was culpable for 2 of those, the Utd and Palace ones.
The pen against Spurs is more a minor mistake imo, others equally at fault and it was a borderline decision.
The Newcastle one, well yes he stayed down and maybe a bit of play acting which none of us like but the ref didn't know that...poor officiating imo.
Even so, even if he is at fault for all those 4, he's been more good than bad so far over the season for me.

I don't agree with the 4 goals being his fault, but that would be a goal every 3 games, which would be very bad- can't see how there could possibly be more good.

Utd was him
Newcastle - Neves should have cleared it
Spurs - Neves gave the ball away
Palace - he is partly culpable, but after his error Semedo should have cleared it and Coady and Saiss needed to get out
