Ok, my post was probably a bit ott, I've been down the pub, but I still think the thread has been derailed by the naysayers.

I dont get this talk of downgrade, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I hope it works out for all sides.

Patricio and Moutinho were the exceptions to the following Fosun model. -Younger , less known promising players that wolves can bring on and then sell for a profit after 2,3, or 4 years would be my guess at the model. Jota was the first example. He could not get in the team for the last few months before he left and has taken his step up well. Sa is the youngest of the 4 Portugal keepers? 5 years he will still be younger than Rui is now. If he stays til then he could be a cult hero. I am looking forward to seeing him in action. Decent business for me.

We were but we were in the filling up mode, amazingly at the start Mendes wasn't interested in moving around the likes of Dave Edwards, now we have reached the point where we are the same as every club with strong Mendes links.

I think we all were to tbh. Getting Neves, Boly & Jota then followed by Mout & Rui we all thought we were different to other clubs despite what their fans were saying.

It has given things 4-5 years ago seemed way beyond us though. As I watched us bore everyone to death v Blackburn I would not have expected that within a couple of seasons I would visiting Turin to watch Wolves play and win in a European Cup tie. We are at interesting junction on the Fosun journey for me. The success/failure of this summer of change will show us what Fosun want from us - Goes right, will they make the financial push to hit their target stated when buying us or if it goes wrong, is it just Jeff that pays the price or do they walk away and stick to buying things their executives have more chance of making a success. My gut feeling if Bruno fails is we see Jeff go and a change in the way we work, so Bruno being a success if vital for Jorge Mendes if he wants to add more to his bank account and have our club as handy way of topping up that account.

This season will be a queasy experience if every thread, every game and every topic devolves into pining for ex-players and the Spurs manager, and wishing it was 2018.

If nothing else, Nuno going has shown we are all the same as Tim Spiers. He just had his emotional break down over Kenny Jackett.

It's not a stark reminder. It comes across as you being churlish due to the frequency and manner of it.

My appreciation of the those two in particular will always be there. Regardless of the clubs they currently work at.

And as for appreciation... Doc was great and an important player for us in the two excellent PL seasons we had, but still gets jeering schadenfreude on a regular basis.

Adama is still with us and people are longing to sell him after his crap season (Nuno and Rui get a pass ofc) and he basically gets called thick as pig shit most games.

All Aboard the Fosun express always came with caveats: the tie up with Mendes and their desire to make money. Their model has shown little change since they took over. Rui Patricio has gone to a bigger club than Wolves at the moment. Jota went to the champions. Top sides in the UK and Europe are sniffing around our best players because we finished in the bottom half and other clubs think that they are therefore , up for grabs. But that will not faze Fosun or Mendes as they both feel they can replace with similar quality or the portential to be better. Neto has the potential to be better than Jota for example. Sa could end up better or at least as good as Patricio. I refuse to look bleary eyed at the past. I enjoyed it while it lasted but the Wolves path has changed and I am happy to follow and see where it leads. But I am not convinced its the magical mystery tour some seem to be making it out to be. Its the same model from the same team with the changes pretty much everyone wanted to see ( dull as ditchwater thread if you cannot remember details ) Surely they deserve the chance to prove themselves before we all go straight to doom? Roll on the new season

Bonatini, Costa, Cavaleiro and Jota helped fire us into the Premier League...
"Surely we can't be replacing Costa and Cav so soon"... All the above gone and in came Raul, Adama, Neto, Podence and now Trincao.

It's the model that Fosun are working to and it has worked thus far. I'm ready to see where this season takes us

I liked Rui, he was a good keeper for him, sure he had his issues.
His distribution and Kicking was pretty poor.
Shot stopping excellent. What will Sa bring who the fuck knows, Lage, and the club obviously believe he will do better.

If his distribution is a lot better, but his Shot stopping is a bit worse maybe thats ok for the staff.

As with all signing i will give them chance, I learnt ma lesson with Raul.
It will be interesting watching training next week and the game.

I always find it strange that people talk about shot stopping abilities of keepers playing at a high level like it’s some standout attribute. They play in goal and earn a shit ton of money in the process, they obviously have an aptitude for….stopping shots.

But like anything, there are levels.
Shot stopping for a keeper is generally the key attribute so its talked about.
No different to judging a forward on their main requirement, scoring or a defender on how they tackle. Both standard requirements for the position and even at the highest level you have a wide difference in players.

Just saying shot stopping takes away other factors such as positioning, reactions, anticipation etc. Have a poor level of those and shot stopping abilities are reduced (aka being Lonergan)

It's one aspect of the game, and in the modern game perhaps it's less important, 30 years ago, the ability to play with your feet was not required, keepers just used to pick the ball up and either throw or kick long.
Now however the ability to play with your feet is probably as important as being a good shot stopper.

Some keepers are better at the saves say, the Schmeichel's for instance were superb at 1v1.

In the modern game the ability to come and claim crosses, is not as important as 20 years ago, there are far less crosses just chucked in ti the box now.

Joe Hart was a decent keeper, good shot Stopper, his confidence was fucked over by Pep, but Pep went and got a keeper who was fantastic with his feet, but was not a good at claiming crosses, nor at shot stopping, both however were really prone to Brain Farts constantly. Pep decided he wanted a keeper that could play, arguably a team like City will not face as many shots as say Wolves Keeper so the ability to pull out worldie saves is not as important as being able to ping a ball to feet from 40 yards.
