I have liked what I have seen from the start to be fair. 6m steal. His value has already doubled. He will get some international caps soon too. at 28 is just coming into his prime. I hope he keeps it up. If he does he has a great future here.

As I see it there is absolutely no way Sa is a downgrade on Patricio and in many areas (not all) is a clear upgrade. What matters though is that he allows Bruno to play the way he wants, Patricio would not.

I'm bringing this back up because I think the last few games Jose has been extremely good. In fact, based on recent games I think you could make an argument for him being in the top 6 or 7 GKs in the PL, and I'd certainly have him in the top 3 or 4 contenders for our POTS so far.

I am liking him more with every game. He is very alert and adept at dealing with any issues quickly. I think he is a big part of the reason behind our defensive solidity and his distribution is quick and by and large, excellent

There have been several times now where the ball has come into our box recently and I have thought certain goal but he comes out of nowhere to claim or clear the ball

Tbh I think the 'eccentric' angle is a little overplayed, it's not like he's a weird, unpredictable liability every match

...to be fair, it was a shit penalty from a player with a poor record at them. I'd imagine he'd be disappointed.

I am in this camp, I was dead against this transfer but I think people misinterpret his confidence and willingness not to be passive as a keeper as 'eccentric', which is something that has become as much a cliche as commanding his box/area etc.

Really pleased with the Sa signing so far.

he has certainly improved the defence, and with Patrico still there I think we would have conceded far more goals.

He is an absolute nutjob and I think that comes with pros and cons. On the pros side, he commits to things very early and has the body control to make the most of risky situations. On the cons side, when he commits to the wrong thing you can tell he panics for a split second, just long enough to be punished by top players (and certain Newcastle midfielders) and often in ways that look really awful.

For where we are now, I love him. Not sure he'd be right if we were pushing for UCL and trophies, but we're not. He's probably the best we could possibly have hoped for given the club's current standing in the league.

And his distribution is utterly world class.

In fairness to Sa he did try a fair few times yesterday but you could tell it was all rushed due to the pressure we were under and his delivery was wank. Not knocking him as I really like him, yesterday was just never going to work.
