I love Saiss, literally think the guy is great. But he’s not a starting premier league player, especially in CM.

Saiss has a role, in addition to his versatility there are games when even in the prem his height and physicality would be useful. Even as a sub.

This may or may not have been said (got bored of reading the transfer thread with things going round in circles) but, obviously lage isn’t a huge name, and it’s highly likely we are the only premier league club who would employ him given our connections and how we operate. I have seen lots of people saying we should be going for a bigger name, or even your gerrards (that’s daft imo), however, are we really that much of an attractive proposition currently??

potentially one on neves/traore or both going. Our main striker coming back from a huge injury with no idea on the affects I will of had. An ageing keeper on the decline. A defence in need of signing. Our brightest player from this year Neto being out for start of the season.

Ultimately we don't know how an attractive proposition we would have been because we didn't seek to find out. I doubt many realistic unemployed managers would have said no, the same for anyone managing at Championship level. I think Gerrard and Potter would have stayed where they were.

At the end of the day we knew who the new manager was going to be less than 24 hours before the old one left, so any hypothesizing was/is pointless

Call me naive, but isn't it possible that we vetted the interest in the time before the announcement Nuno left?

I'd be willing to bet that many people would have looked at it as a bad thing if we didn't have a replacement lined up. But since the guy we hired doesn't scream "guaranteed success" (which is basically impossible regardless, but I digress), we now look at that immediacy of action (work permit issues excepted) as a negative.

Excellent as always Sir, the only thing I slightly didn't agree with was " Something Wolves have lacked in the past 18 months is runners in behind" I saw several times players wanting to run in behind but no one was ambitious enough to make that pass, which was odd as Coady, Mout, Neves and even Saiss could ping a ball if needed, in the end I think it was futile even for the runners to attempt it, no one was going to pass to them. That was one of the few things that puzzled me last season (apart from the 10 minute build up to an attacking phase) was the reticence to have a cutting edge from players that excel at it.
