Vitor sacked

You mean the earlier posted comments re; Edwards may have been lifted from a fan forum where their opinions are a bit OTT & extreme and not a fair reflection of the job he’s doing at ‘boro?! I don’t believe it… 😉

Rob Edwards will 100% be a case of Matt Wild & Matt Jackson getting in Shi’s ear and saying “you need to get the fans back on side. We need someone they know who they’ll get behind and it will take the attention away from you”. They’re literally the last two people left at the club with any sort of sway, although we all know Shi will do as he pleases regardless.

Edwards is a Championship manager being lined up to take over at a club who will be playing Championship football next season. We get a bit of an “feel good” factor because it’s an ex-player who’s well liked by most taking over rather than a Portuguese journeyman plucked from the arse end of nowhere. But anyone who thinks the likes of Andre & JSL are all of a sudden going to start turning in 10/10 performances week after week under Edwards are kidding themselves. With him in charge (and this isn’t because I dislike him at all, quite the opposite actually) I don’t see us winning 5 games this season.

My Mrs fancies him, though, so there is that.
If Andre and JSL and perhaps others decide to work as little as possible during matches while someone like Edwards is managing us - then that's on them and no one else . If they both want to leave in the Summer - then good luck to them , but between now and then I'd like top performances from those two - or at least as good as they can mange given whatever constraints we might have on the day .

You can be damn sure if Neves was still here he's be bursting a gut to help us .

It was pretty clear at the end of the summer transfer window that Shi wasn’t that bothered about relegation. The Accountant was correct. We’ll sell whatever we can, use parachute payments to bolster cash reserves to compensate for a lower selling price and in three years Fosun will take whatever they can for the club.

I hope he's accepting a too good to be true contract because for 6 months (at least) he's going to take all the flak for Shi's shit. Makes no sense to move from Boro for that.

Is the "love" for Edwards going to be that big because he was a former player?

He was a middling player, 111 games, i don't particularly remember there being a fondness for him? I think the idea that he will galvanise the fans etc, is lost on me a little?

I'll get behind him 100 percent despite peoples reservations. I was very close to packing it all in if Lage, GON or Allerdyce came in. Yes it may not be pretty and be another failure who knows, but I'll get behind him fully because he's not a tosser.

He was fairly injury prone as a player I recall.

It makes zero sense for him to take it, we're terrible and we're going to continue to lose repeatedly because of it as there's no easy solutions. We also lose a shit load of our players next month for the AFCON (albeit some of the shittest ones).

What are they going to do if/when we go another ten games without winning, he's on a massive hiding to nothing. Hedge his bets on Boro would be the sensible thing and then picking this job in the summer when we're in the Championship.

Completely agree

I find it a dull as dishwater nothing of an appointment

As for 'preparing for Championship', if the remainder of this season is as shit under Edwards as what we have seen so far, most fans will want him gone come season end, there will be no caveats about what he inherited

I can't wait for Jeff to pretend Edwards coming on board was the culmination of some kind of actual process

Edwards was a very average player for us. 5.5 to 6.5/10 most weeks, rarely dreadful, rarely anything special. The fact he played for us is irrelevant though and like others I can’t see the attraction for him other than I believe his family are still local. Unlike GO I think we can all get behind him and hope he does well, but I’ll be surprised if we reach 20 points. I’d presume he’s set to stay irrespective of how we do for the rest of the season so we all have to hope he copes better in the Championship here than at Luton.

I hope Wolves don't pick up a single point for the rest of the season. To be honest though, that might happen with or without Edwards.

That is what annoys me most. They are a tragic football club in a desperate situation. And he joins them?

Wow... what a rush... hold me back...

Looking forward to the linguistic gymnastics a core of the Wolves fan base will perform to call this out as a stellar appointment...
