Vitor sacked

Just because an individual might have been an average player - and perhaps a very average one - does not mean that they will then become an average / poor Manager .
Some of the best Managers were pretty average players .

I'm not blowing Edwards up here , for me the only measure is his previous managerial form - as with any possible appointment . That form is very mixed and is nearly all at lower levels . He is of course very inexperienced on top of that . You have to start somewhere though . All the great Managers had to begin somewhere - some club needed to give them all a chance .

I don't agree with those that think he's mugging himself off taking the job tbh, he's closer to 7th than he is to 1st and we all know what a cunt that division can be. He's moving into a job with more money, zero expectation to avoid relegation, and not in the North East.

I'd have preferred Keane based on the trophies and pedigreed or Carrick because I liked his football. Obviously we'll get behind him but you can see him getting sacked this time next year when we're in 16th and playing like shit. It's hard to imagine a swashbuckling return given his track record.

Jeff Shi is a fucking bellend

I don't think that is the point being made, it' more the idea that I think some have, possibly in the press or in Shi's tiny mind that he will galvanise the fans because he was a former Wolves player.

If it was Neves then of course. But it's Rob Edwards of 111 average, injury prone games in the 00s when we were just bumbling around the Champ.

Roger Johnson?
Different type of artist.

If Edwards is coming in then best of luck to him. I don't care what he did as a player. I suspect he'll have assurances that he'll be kept on when the inevitable relegation happens and be given a chance to rebuild something, although given how Fosun are now running the club I don't know that a rebuild is even possible. Going to need another bomb squad solution to shift some of the dead wood we've signed.

He's not going to be anywhere near the pantheon of Great Managers FFS mate.

The only reason he's getting the job is because Jeff doesn't know anyone else in football and Rob used to work here in various capacities

He also appears to be the only one who actually wants to come here!

I'm not very keen on English/British managers, outside of 1 or 2 (Eddie Howe) they are a pretty bland bunch who I think are a long way behind their foreign counterparts, hence why most PL and many Champ clubs are managed by foreign coaches and the England team has a German manager.

Another thing, the talk of RE wanting to come here as its closer to home, similar to GO not living locally and maintaining his Kent base, the foreign managers seem prepared to live in different countries and sometimes continents to their family such is their commitment to the job.

Zenga famously used to return to his family in Dubai (though these trips home were getting longer), Nuno lived here with his family back in Portugal (tragically during the very difficult Covid era), Lop brought his wife over to live with him, Vitor lived here alone though he had his brother-in-law as assistant

I think that might be the most misleading headline I've ever seen :ROFLMAO: I started reading that ready to rage at our incompetence (and also because I didn't read the URL properly I expected him to have set fire to a skip)

It could have been a lot worse
That's the only thing Ive got to hang on to. I dont really think he's the right person for the job but he's not GON, Lage, BFS. Ive not seen any suitable coaches throw their hat into the ring. It's a fucking shambles and one most Wolves fans have seen coming for years.

I dont really think he's the right person for the job

Thing is, The Job isn't 'keep Wolves up and progress the club' (which we'd obviously all like, and which any normal club in our predicament would be thinking)

The Job is 'get paid a bit more than you're currently on, don't ask for too much in the January window and shut the fans up while we quietly drop through the trap door'

I don’t think we are after Edwards because he used to play here, more for the fact he has coached here (twice - once under Fosun).

I really don’t care anymore. This season is done. So is the one after that and so on while we are run by these buffoons.

At least Edwards isn’t (to my mind) a bellend.

Edwards not taken training today either and having discussions with Boro hierarchy accounts to the Guardian, so definitely appears to be happening.

Cue them then offering him a new improved contract and him telling us to do one.

Teixeira, Coady and Edwards in midfield.. with Saiss on the bench!
Tex looked an unbelievable player for the first handful of games that season, at least. Still remember him nearly scoring a goal that was like SEB’s against Charlton (no memory of who we played that day, was under Zenga IIRC).

Where did I say that Edwards will be a great Manager ? I didn't .
