Vitor sacked

Percy:

Wolves to make formal approach for Rob Edwards today, official move this afternoon.

It feels like we are back in 2016 and they have just sacked Zenga with the subsequent Nuno era being a bizarre dream that we just woke up from

I hope everyone's ready for another embarrassing public rejection

I would be staggered if he swapped a promotion challenge with Boro for a Mission: Impossible with us.

If he was daft enough to accept, I'd hope that he wouldn't be the scapegoat if/when we do go down, and he'd be given the opportunity to rebuild next season.

I like Edwards - but I can't see any logical reason why he'd swap Boro for us right now.

Who does Jeff have left in the football department? It really does sound like there's no one to tell him anything and Edwards comes up because a) met him at the club before and b) knows he's still managing somewhere.

I know the Champ is a slug fest and it's too early to know who will stand out by end of season, but ssurely leaving a currently top 3 side for the bottom EPL side makes no sense.

Jury is definitely out on Edwards, as although he's a major part of Luton getting promoted to the Premier League he's then also fairly responsible for them then being relegated to League One.

And as there's zero chance of us staying up, that then brings in a serious possibility of the same thing happening again.

I seem to recall Edward’s’ rebuilding job in the Championship with Luton didn’t go too well. That’s League One Luton now.

Promoted forest green, sacked like all others after not very long at Watford, promoted Luton followed by an inevitable relegation but then kept sliding and sacked, promising start at Boro.

A mixed bag if you're being generous. Very hard to see him keeping us up to be honest, I can't see any benefits of appointing him over Keane to be honest.

If I recall correctly he wasn't doing that badly either at Watford when he got the boot .
Forest Green promotion , Luton promotion ( having taken over mid way through the season too let's not forget ) , did a lot better than people expected with Luton in the Premier League too . His black mark was the slide with Luton in the Championship the following season .
Still - very inexperienced , even if this was June and he had a whole pre season ahead of him . This is November - we have 2 points and zero wins . It's a huge ask to keep us up , but if Fosun are planning to keep him on even if we get relegated , then maybe , problem is though that if he struggles to get 20 points over the course of the season - what will Fosun do then . Relegation also means that several players will leave and you're starting from scratch all over again .

He's been coaching longer than Keane, he's also coached in the Premier League and the Championship which Keane hasn't, albeit with varying degrees of success.

He'd be a better appointment than Keane IMO.

Neither are a no-brainer sort of appointment, both come with huge risks, I wouldn't expect either to keep us up, but both would be way better than some of the alternatives out there.

He's one (along with Keane) who I could at least throw my support at, some of the others would just make me grind my teeth.
I just doubt he has what it takes to keep us up or be able to have us punching at the top of the Championship.

Yeah bit baffled with this, they looked like they had the right approach to their time in the Prem knowing it wasn't going to be for a long time.

And we all know how much it sucks to be double relegated.

Thing is, that's probably why Shi is going for someone like Edwards, as a PR exercise and barrier between himself and the fans.

I'd rather just have a really good fucking manager than some nice familiar face meant to appease me, but those days are long gone it seems

Yes I would agree with this - and the 2nd part of your last sentence would obviously depend on who stays, who goes, and how much these bloody owners are prepared to back us in the event of relegation
