The 442 has really worked giving us the space out wide. And with a 3 of Thiago, Henderson and Fabinho Liverpool don’t really have the personnel to make the extra man tell in there.

Think we’d be causing more problems with someone other than Raul up top. Looks like hasn’t played in years.
Think that's a bit harsh, rusty as he'll as you'd expect but looks full of running, I'd choose him every time over current Costa.

Feels like he's playing in a friendly. Don't know how else to describe it. Never quite there with anything (will score now)

This is the thing with him, isn't it? 99% of each match he looks perfectly fine, good even. But the 1% almost always results in a goal at this level and he's doing it every single match.
Almost like he's a kid that needs a steady player next to him.

@The Bear it really doesn't matter. It's a composed finish which goes exactly where he wants it to

Our own worst enemies.

We needed to weather the first ten minutes but the gift really helped us and we did brilliantly once we got our noses in front to then undo everything because Nathan Stearman shanked it is really disappointing. Especially 30 seconds before half time.

Hopefully we can recover second half, think they'll come out like a train second half which wouldn't have been the case at 1-0 they'd have still been nervy.

Decent half for Hodge for all the pelters he gets done well dispossessing Thiago for the goal and a few other tackles. Lembikisa looked calm on the ball too.

Sarkic distribution is a worry and Toti although hasn't done much wrong doesn't fill me with confidence.

How many goals do we concede as a result of our own errors? We very rarely seem to get sliced open.

I’m not commenting on his running. That’s a pre requisite. Technically awful (rusty, slack, call it what you like)

Well not every single match but he’s made a bad habit of it. That’s what you have to accept with a 22 year old centre back if I’m honest. Almost as if it was stupid signing one young talented defender and getting rid of all your experienced ones. He’s learning the hard way but he’s gonna be a bloody good defender

It’s true. 99% of the time he is excellent, he’s just unfortunate that 1% is usually such a clanger that it results in a goal.

We really need to sign that experienced CB to go next to him. Max Kilman isn’t it.

You know this stuff better than I do; suffice to say I struggle to maintain that optimism with him.
