Up for the Cup Wolves-Swansea Mathday Thread

Recently got back. I didn't see Vinagre's challenge so can't say. Fer's seemed like a terrible decision, clipped the heels of Costa as he was running away. Was a yellow card, ref was trying to even it up.

Played well in the first half prior to the red, had some good chances. Early goal ruled out for a foul in the build-up, not sure there was. Second half we weren't as good going forwards until their red but you could hardly tell we were a man down when defending, Swansea were not dangerous. Gibbs-White looked good. Bright missed a sitter. From where I was sitting looked like Norris made a really good save from the free-kick but the linesman gave the goal kick. He was impressive without ever really being threatened, same can be said for all the back three who were good, Hause in particular, MOTM.

Mir had a header well saved late on, didn't look bad. Renato Sanches is shite! Terrible player, Swansea were playing with ten men for about an hour of this game.

Just got home, bloody cold and not a great game. Since no one else has done it here's my ratings:

Norris: 8. Looks very good, not much to do, but so calm. Good feet too.

Doc. 8. Does what he does

Bennett. 8. See above

Coady. 8. See above

House. 8.5. Looked very good and brought the ball forward very well. Long term a back 3 of Hause, Coady & Boly would be my choice.

Vini. 6. Shame he got sent off, looked ok before. Sending off was very close to me, but as they were going away from me have no idea what happened.

Alf. 9 and MotM. Class. Dealt with everything and got forward well. Doesn't have the passing of Neves or Saiss though.

MGW. 7. Was playing the Neves role and playing it well. Real shame he came off.

Bright. 7. I love the guy, but his decision making really isn't there yet.

Costa. 8.5. Looked back to his best. Class, just needs to improve his finishing.

Binatini. 7. Not as good as he has been and his lack of pace was shown up a couple of times

Baz. 6. Gets caught out of position way too much.

Cav. 8. See Doc.

Mir. 7. Looks like he could be good, not on for long enough to judge properly.

Just seen the short highlights. Vinagres challenge not great, but certainly didn't resemble the 'career ending' challenge described by Chris Newton on Final Score. He mistimed it and stood on the guys leg. I can understand the red card, but not as described by most of the 'neutral' pundits.

The Fer challenge, very cynical, a swipe to stop Costa after he had got away from him. Harsh?. Maybe, but again, I can see why it was given.

On another day may well have seen two yellow cards, but the key term is always 'In the opinion of the referee'.

Pointless to appeal, don't see the ref changing his mind.

Just seen the BBC highlights. Vinagre is a red because of how high up he caught Dyer, but was unlucky the latter he was falling at the time, wasn't malicious and certainly not a leg breaker as per Nathan Blake apparently.

Fer loses the ball and maliciously takes a swipe at Costa, it's not a taking one for the team challenge and is malicious, for me borderline, I'd probably go yellow, but it's different to what's been reported as it came from being frustrated from the original challenge.

Hause definitely should have scored and probably so should have Bright.

I'm not sure about vinagres red card. There wasn't much force behind it but I can see why it was given. If we'd had it done against us I'd be screaming for a red.

That trip on Costa is a yellow.

Highlights show we should have won easily

Vinagre is an absolute cast iron red card. Looking at it otherwise is old-gold-tinted glasses

I'll have to watch vinnys red back. At the time it came as a total surprise. Was only half paying attention when it happened. Gutted for Morgan having to come off, he was playing so well.

A red card all day long.
