He just plays deeper. I feel like the criticism is coming from people who expect him to score a thunderbolt every few months and he hasn't yet. Apart from the goals his performances are just as good (more assists than last year also). His reading of the game is excellent and he can do a very good job defensively for us. Arsenal away comes to mind when I thought he was fantastic.

Seeing as i cant seem to vote for Traore then it will have to be Joao.

Neves' long passing and shooting has definitely not been as accurate as last season in the Championship. Defensively he has been better though.

I'd guess this is because he's in a tougher league and as mentioned he's playing a bit deeper. Also don't underestimate Moutinho's contribution. He's become this season's Neves as our outstanding player on the ball. Maybe Neves is just allowing Moutinho to do his thing and dictate attacks without wanting to try and compete with him too much. Or get forward too much against Nuno's wishes.

Between Moutinho and Raul for me.

Raul is my favourite Wolves player since Bully, his goals, assists, workrate, personality are all great and its wonderful to see a rampaging no.9 here again but I go for Moutinho.

Absolutely class act in midfield that pulls all the strings for the Wolves team, I liken him to or own Pirlo.

Over the season, Moutinho started brilliantly, then went off form in late October/November but since the new year has dominated games. Raul has the odd off game (like against Brighton) but he has been consistently on form for most of the season. So Raul just tips it for me, although Moutinho is very close and always a joy to watch. Raul it is.

Has to be jiminez. We are absolutely shocking without him. Take away any other player, if we play well we still have a good chance of winning

There's nothing wrong with Neves, I don't understand where the criticism is coming from.
Agreed. I think personally he'll be very pleased with his performances this season and his development as a footballer.

Think its people struggling to come to terms with his slightly different role, seen lots of comments saying he should be pushed much further forward......hmm, if anyone thinks he could be good in a 10 style role they'd be very disappointed

Debated long and hard with myself over this (& it's a testament to the recruitment & how they have played that we have a 'real' choice this year)

Jiminez, Coady & Boly got close but am going with Moutinho.

He is a joy to watch

Has to be Moutinho for me...

When I watched Neves last year, he was the best thing I’d ever seen in a Wolves shirt, I literally couldn’t believe we’d got him.

Then, this season, I’ve seen Moutinho.
slightly edited, as agreed with most of the post.
The vast majority of games I've been to this season I've walked away mentioning how good Moutinho is.
Also agree that anyone thinking/speculating about Neves' form needs to revise their opinion. He's been superb in numerous games. Think it was v West Ham when he won a ridiculous number of headers in the middle of the pitch. His tackling has gone up a level this year, and his positioning is better.

Neves has been good - not as many worldy long range shots, but he's been playing a bit deeper & the opposition is a big step up from what he had to face in the Championship.

He's still only 21 & has the capability of being in the top echelon of world class players before he has to stop.

Jimenez for me, the chiseled God deserves it.

Hard to get a fag paper between Jimenez and Moutinho, but I lean Jimenez- Moutinho's a great player, and we play better when he's in the team, but we simply would not work without Jimenez.

For the record, I brought up the zero votes for Neves as a marker on how far the squad has come along in 12 months, not because I think he’s shit. I think he’s fucking brilliant. Just had to clear that up.

Arguably I’d say we wouldn’t work without Jota either at the moment.
