Trump

Maybe it needs someone like Kennedy to implement some mind-fucked policies to wake some Trump voters up. Voting for anti-establishment candidates is easy but when the reality of the consequences strike home it will gradually dawn on people that it wasn’t such a great idea. Maybe a measles epidemic in 2027 or peace in Ukraine followed a couple of years later by a second Russian invasion.

I think the big problem electoral (here and there) is misinformation and the fact that as a strategy it lends itself far more naturally to the right. Misinformation is the warzone now, and we don't know how to play.

They can say that migrants are coming over, eating dogs and raping children and people can/do believe it, or even if they accept it's hyperbole, will be left at least feeling that they bring with them lots of unsavoury behaviour. It's sensational and it sticks.

What's the left's sensational message?

They say "that's nonsense" and it doesn't stick.
They talk of economic and social benefits and it doesn't stick.

I've seen suggestions that the left needs to join the misinformation fight, but what the fuck would leftist misinformation look like?

Migrants are breaking into people's houses and tidying up?

Leftism just doesn't lend itself to sensational, snappy messaging
I think the left have significant history of engagement in misinformation. See the soviet union, china, north korea, castro and cuba, etc etc.
The right are spreading a fuck ton of misinfo, and it is landing because it is engaging with some peoples base fears and worries.
The notion that it is a purely far right tactic is a misnomer imo.

(johnny75 will give me my log in details back now... ;))

The problem is those policies will not show truly awful results in 4 years, those will come further down the line and by then they will be able to blame some random brown people

They’re both as bad as each other and it’s all out tactical warfare playing out online.

It probably suits the right more than the left so we’re trapped in the attempts to silence and the ammunition it gives to the protection of free speech.

Looks to me like Trump’s mob are convinced they’ve saved their country from their biggest threat (the left) and everything else is a price worth paying.

Who’s the other half of “both”?

You’re probably right but whilst he got away with a supposed comedian referring to Puerto Rico as a raft of scum the Republicans can’t do it directly. You can fool some of the people all of the time but the way he’s going there’s going to be a lot of brown stuff hitting the fan well before the next election and that number surely will shrink, but then it won’t be Trump’s problem.

Was going to say the left, but to be honest most opposing sides on any matter are now so tactically astute it’s effectively all-out online warfare regardless.

I guess you're entitled to that opinion; probably not going to be swayed by an avowed socialist. :)

We haven't gone nearly far enough, IMO. Even Obama, who our Republicans think was a socialist, was pretty right wing at the end of the day.

Yeah it makes me laugh, all the Fox News (and the like) labeling people like Kamala Harris as "left wing/socialist". Utter horseshit, she's as far right as the majority of Conservatives over here. The republicans wouldn't know a true socialist if they were kicked in the balls by one!

You're telling me; I must be up to 65 or so and not one of them understood.

We’re a week after he’s elected, two months before he’s sworn in and we’re already at this level of madness, buckle up people it’s gonna get real bumpyIMG_2319.jpeg

Another four years of the world and media obsessing over each daily outrage, none of which he's ever held accountable for...done it once, think I'll pass this time

Joe Biden has pardoned his son, Hunter, following his convictions earlier this year.

Trump will explode!

Really done his bit for the good of the country there hasn't he, fucking bellend.

To be fair Trump railing against "a miscarriage of justice" is somewhat hypocritical considering all of the charges being brought against him were just dropped once he won the election.

Obviously the majority of the people who voted for him won't get the juxtaposition.

But still a horrendous look for the American "justice system".

It is an open invite for Trump to pardon anyone and everyone in his first day in office, apart from himself as that is supposedly constitutionally impossible (although I bet that ends up in front of the supreme court for a biased decision PDQ).

He is already set to pardon 500+ people for the Jan 6th riots.

I doubt Biden doing this will change what he has planned, just gives him an opportunity to shout loudly and say "look at what's happening over there"
