I think the weird thing about Trump is that he makes America look weak - his lack of linguistic skills and a, frankly bizarre, grasp on reality (such as drawing extensions on hurricane maps etc) really makes America look a bit daft.

I find it odd that patriotic Americans are willing to vote for someone who makes their country look thick. Just weird.

This discussion began with an assertion that Trump was a threat to global security. Four years in office clearly proved otherwise. The media railed for years before his election about how Trump would cause a world war and the economy would crash. In both cases the opposite occured. I meet Trump haters all the time. and when asked to name one unconstitutional thing he did while in office they can't. Emotion prevails over reason. Look how readily a poster above rationalized the anarchy in our cities because he believes it is justified.

Ukraine is the beginning and end of this story. Trump's political emergence and election stumbled on what was going on. Read Saul Alinsky's. "12 rules For Radicals" then research the "Venona Papers" you might learn something, but I doubt it

Well, I'd say being engaged in an insurrection would certainly be the first thing that springs to mind.

Then we have the conflicts of interest issues as he didn't recuse himself from decisions in which he had a personal financial stake. The “emoluments” clause provides that no federal officeholder may, absent express approval by Congress, accept “any present, Emolument,…of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.”

Then we have the fact that Trump has been impeached twice. A factual matter no matter how much you may disagree with it.

So sure, carry on defending this zealot as you wish.

Regret to report that Trump more or less dominated the New Hampshire primary yesterday. Ron DeSantis dropped out earlier in the week. The nomination is basically Trump's already.

I think it's the other way. For as much as Trump's legal issues have stoked the fire in his support, it has driven his numbers with center-right voters down. The sorts of conservatives who wouldn't be as motivated to get out to vote in a primary in the first place.

Maybe that's a frail hope. In the end, even if he wins, Biden won't do much good, just less bad.

I saw that clip that someone posted on here earlier of Biden, and I'm still a bit genuinely shocked!
I mean say what you like about Trump, Bollocky Boris, Rees Mogg even Truss, but jesus, at least they can speak, you might not like what they say one little bit, but fucking hell, they can get to the end of a sentence! I know, I know they aren't 80 years old, but how can he lead America when he can hardly remain vertical?
