To stop threads being derailled please feel free to debate all things Traore here. Sort of like his own blame game thread.

For me he is exciting and fucking frustrating at the same time. He is incredibly quick and powerfully build yet has the balance of a new born foal and is knocked off the ball too easily. He brings us something very very different as an impact sub but has done little to warrant an auto pick.

Over to you.

He’s had some brilliant runs, and some awful touches, some fantastic crosses and some periods of standing around watching. I get the frustration.

On the other hand, recently he’s been doing some simple passes rather than trying to run past two defenders from a standing start as he was at the start of the season. Hell, on Friday, he ran past a couple of people centrally and played a ball in between two defenders for (I think) Vinagre - so I can see improvement, even though he’s very far from complete.

Personally, I’d like to see him get a run of games, as the likes of Costa have had, to see whether he can continue improving and deliver more.

He should be miles away from the starting XI - impact sub is his role - £18M? We’ve had our pants properly pulled down.

You see I agree he shouldn't start but he has something that no other player I have ever seen has. His raw pace and desire to dribble is incredible! 18 m is a lot. But there have been worse signings for worse reasons. Play to his strengths and work on his weaknesses. If he wins us 10 points a season as an impact sub it's worth it. He has 3 so far

Two surely?

He is without doubt one of the strangest footballers I have ever watched, not just for Wolves, anywhere. Nothing about him makes any sense.

I didn't want him and I still don't like him. His crossing is better than I thought it would be, his general play is way, way, way worse.

There probably will be some games where he does *something*. It's not enough though.

He is what he is. The club obviously saw it is a 'risk' worth taking, and I can see why. He has the ability to decide games. From a long term aspect however, unless he can become more involved in and out of possession he will not be up to scratch for where we want to go. And that doesn't mean having to beat 3/4 players out of a tight space every time he gets it but just be a functioning part of the team, and then add those moments.

My biggest concern yesterday (as I thought he did OK first half) was how exhausted he looked. he's a sprinter, sure, but it was quite alarming. He excites me, I quite enjoying having him as an option but he's got a lot to do. he had a decent first few games I thought but hasn't added much at all to his game yet - to the point that we have to play him up front because defensively his positioning and ability to block off passing lanes (like Jota, Costa, Cav do) is so poor.

Just for Langers I'll give you a cricket analogy. It's like having a Test match bowler who's constantly at 96mph and more. Wow. Hardly anyone in the world does that. Amazing!

And he'll put together the odd little spell that becomes the subject of YouTube lore, or even a single wicket taking delivery, smashing the stumps, that has your eyes popping. This guy is one in a million, surely.

Except the rest of the time he's going at five an over and we can't trust him to do anything at all. Oh, and he averages 0.1 with the bat and can't field.

Exactly this.

We are not a poor club now. We have about 100 m this season so we spunked 18% on Traore, 10% on Jota and 10% on Boly. Plenty left. I would rather Traore played for us than against us. He shouldn't be starting but then nor should Costa.

Costa has not been poor all season though as people are making out. He was playing well enough to get his maiden senior international call up (and he scored as well).

He was poor vs Huddersfield and not even worth 1/10 last night.

He was good against city, utd and arsenal. Other games not so much.

Even in those game he played well though he's only contributed an indirect assist against utd. And he has missed some proper easy chances too.

I really like Costa, but have not seen him in full flight since Lambert left.

But even when he has done well he has been as soft as shite. Spent more time on his arse appealing for free kicks than Raheem Sterling

Really. The subject of this thread goes down way way too easy at times. Certainly more than Costa given their different physique.

Costa was great from about January onwards last season, one of our best players towards the latter stages of the season I thought.

he has played OK most of this season but without being effective. His crossing has been poor and he lacks confidence 1v1 lately. He is one of the most talented players I have ever seen in a Wolves shirt, such a lovely finisher too but we haven't seen that this season (for various reasons)
