Transfer Speculation Thread 2014/15

Georgie Thompson would have done better than Corica.

If we'd known each other in the mid 90s it would have been an interesting contest whether you hated Corica more than I hated Ferguson.

My Corica hatred isn't as strong as yours for Zubar, Clarke, Olofinjana and - in particular - Saunders.

I don't think anyone will ever surpass Saunders.

Back to signings - I think we will need a more physical presence alongside KMac for some games. As well as some athleticism as Kev isn't the most mobile. I'm not normally a fan of loans but could KJ get the best out of Chalobah? Maybe even draw up a preliminary two year loan as opposed to one?

Just seen this goal from that Huws lad that you were going on about. One for the future?

If we go down that right they need to be just as good on the ball though - Chalobah is a very good fit in that sense if he can get his head right (or even Doumbia when he was playing well). I don't went us to just suddenly think we need athletes because we are in the Championship.

He (Huws) ain't getting in Citeh's team any time soon. Would like to see him here if possible.

I think players like that would want to play for Wolves as well.

I suppose you never know as an outsider when coaches are talking sense or rubbish. After all a non Wolves fan listening to Mark McGhee might have entertained the thought that Steve Corica was better than Georgi Kinkladze. Of course we knew the truth of it.

Well seeing as that coach just described the perfect midfielder I'd think he was talking rubbish. If he was that good Newcastle United wouldn't be letting him go for free.

We'd be needing Chelsea to subsidise the majority of his 30/40k a week wage though I'd imagine.

I'd really like to see us go in for Pringle as I've read nothing but good reports about him and people were saying he completely changed the game when he came on in the 6-4.

I wouldn't be averse to looking for a loan option to provide full back cover. Its a tricky one given we have three potential right backs and only one left back with the only cover from our first choice right back. That isn't ideal.

I'd perhaps look to loan EEL out, keep Ricketts and Doherty for RB then add a left back to cover Golbourne.

He looked good when I saw him on time, I can't remember where it was. He's tiny!

Big clubs do get it wrong with releasing players from time to time, Man Utd did it with Platt and Beardsley. Newcastle stuck Shearer in goal when he trialed with them. We released Collymore for non footballing reasons.

Could James Wallace from Tranmere be an alternative, even though he was hacking down our players this season?

Any chance Thelwell might turn Jackett towards Jack Robinson, bit like he may have done with Dicko?

I hope not, Robinson has serious discipline problems and just isn't very good.

I like Robinson but he's a hot head and Goulbourne is certainly better.

Wallace is a good player

I too want us to go for Pringle, which would allow Jacobs to play through the middle - a position I feel he is better in. Pringle seems far too good for League 1 and wouldn't cost the earth.

If we are looking for someone with a little bit more physical presence than Price to play alongside McDonald on occasions next season, I wouldn't be totally against going back in for Luke Murphy at Leeds who is still young and has Championship experience under his belt.

It'll be interesting to see who KJ targets because from all the reports so far we will be going for "young and hungry" type players again.

Left back is an interesting one, unless you include Ricketts we have zero cover, so you'd think we'll strengthen here, but if we do it should be to genuinely challenge Golbourne not to offer cover. The 3-4 signings I think we'll make all need to be with the intention of going into the first team or at least seriously challenging, no Halford/Maierhoffer type squad fillers.

I agree we need left back cover and also centre half, central mid and striker. Personally happy with Jacobs/Edwards at 10 and would like to see 1/2 youngsters given a go as wide cover. Think we will see max 4 players come in.
For me the concern is are we going to get quality players to come in just for cover as I think Kenny will start the first half dozen games with our current first team
