There goes Julen!

Not sure on O'Neil. Anyone vaguely competent should keep this side up though
The line between "vaguely competent" and "fucked sideways out of his depth" is so thin at this level, tbf.

I do think we're lucky insofar as Luton and Blades are kind of a two team handicap on relegation this season.

The conspiracy theorist in me says that Moutinho vamoosing out of the club the way he did directly coincides with Julen first hearing that financial plans had changed.
To get off topic, this was really weird? He appears to have sailed off into the sunset from professional football without even a whimper. Does anyone know of any other relatively high-profile players to have done this?

Everyone's different of course. Jimmy Anderson will retire by press release, Stuart Broad wanted his wall of honour and Sky montage.

I remember him in lockdown posting videos of him pushing a wheelbarrow around what looked like his farm. That’s what I envisage in my head he’s doing now. We might see him on Countryfile in the future.

Cantona maybe?

I know he was expensive but I'd much rather have Joao as #4 of 4 CMs than Joe Hodge.

Edit: Mark Viduka sort of just quietly stopped playing and he was only 33.

If João is a redneck it will break my little heart.

Give GON his due, quite impressive to charm Shi over a zoom call to China.
Jeff - we won’t spend any money this season
GON - understood. I’m used to that.
Jeff - very impressive candidate

well had hoped (and still thought) they would accommodate some of JL’s wishes and at least get a couple extra in but looks like relationship might be shot. looks a shambles this close to season start.

Oh yeah good shout, Dukes is a hermit somewhere in Croatia iirc.

Even if Lop stays, we must be and extremely unattractive team to sign for based on this merry go round

Sounds like madness. Surely a well paid job as Head of Recruitment in a business that is committed to not recruiting anyone is a dream job for an idler?
Tbf it sounds a great job when you put it like that. A recruiter that gets paid to not recruit, what are the hours for one of these jobs?

Irrelevant if he’s rubbish or not.

1. Not his fault he’s appointed

2. If the players aren’t going to listen to a manager, then says alot about them (especially a new manager)

3. If O’Neill is our next manager, surely we’d want him to succeed instead.

It’s a shit state of affairs, but ‘I’m not listening to another manager’ is abit ridiculous?

If you're a player and Dean Saunders comes through the door you wouldn't listen to him either.

O'Neil is so out of his depth the players could well do what they want and there's nothing he could do about it. They are human and probably don't give a shit about being coached by an idiot like O'Neil, Lampard or Smith.

Let’s be honest, we have no idea whether O’Neill is out of his depth. I for one never backed him to keep Bournemouth up. Obviously that advocating him being manager. But I’m definitely not encouraging our players to not listen to their manager

From players through to the management team we seem to want rid of the ones who try and deliver on their job title and to retain the ones who can’t. If Jeff visits the canteen and finds out someone’s actually being cooking the food I’d imagine the chef would be updating his LinkedIn profile sharpish.

Players at Bournemouth didn't down tools and he had a bag of shite squad when he took over. Scotty P couldn't wait to get sacked.
New players that came in also played for him

I am not a fan of what seems to be his appointment in the next 24 hours for I don't think the players will say fuck this and ignore him. Certainly not straight away.
If it is GoN, a big thing is going to be who he brings in with him. Will he bring in someone who will get the players respect from day 1

Bournemouth lost their final non-GoN match 9-0 didn't they?
