There goes Julen!

Not sure you would expect the meeting to have finished, the staff and players would need to be told, then the press release.

I would expect GB, to have leaked it, nothing as of yet, one can only hope sense has prevailed and an agreement has been made
Mbappe on loan incoming

Just a thought, maybe wanted more than Elvedi and Scott so they’ve held that money back knowing those two wouldn’t win Lop over so there was likely to be a new man in charge and better to let him decide how he spends it.

That's rationalising this into something half competent.

This is anything far from competent.

SkyBet still taking bets at 1/20 on Lop to be next manager to leave. How’s that for clutching at straws?!

Sympathy for O'Neil here!

Note to self: When a thread grows by over 12 pages while you’re at work, don’t bother inflicting it upon yourself. Fuck me.
Read it. Some TWF classics buried in those pages

I’m not delighted by O’Neil but I’m not convinced he will inevitably fail, more likely we will have a bit of a meh season rather than what would have been possible if Jeff and Lop hadn’t behaved like rutting elks.

If at the start of the day you'd been asked to rank him amongst the current managers in the Prem, I am presuming he would have been 21st though?

"New owners are putting in a lot of money, so I guess they see GO as being limited and their aim isn't just to survive."

Go Fosun...

I’m also of the opinion now that I don’t really want a manager who doesn’t want to be here. I mean I’d take Lop over O’Neil all day long, but I’m not sure the squad will benefit from a season of worrying if the manager is going to walk the next day.

I guess this has been brewing for weeks. He has basically been MIA press conference wise throughout preseason since his Ballbag interview.

Don’t know much about GoN other than we failed to beat him twice, they finished one point behind us and managed all of that with a terrible squad and without an “elite coach”.

We all thought Hoddle was a complete prick when he said this:

'I wish to announce my decision, with immediate effect, to resign as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club.

'It has been a very difficult decision but I feel that my expectations and the club's expectations have drifted too far apart in recent weeks. This decision has been made early in pre-season for the benefit of the club.

'I would like to take the opportunity of thanking the board, players, staff and fans for their support and efforts and wish everyone connected with Wolverhampton Wanderers every success in the future.'

He did so on 1 July 2006.

When Lopetegui says something similar on 8-9 August 2023 I wonder if the reaction will be the same.
