There goes Julen!

I think we’ll sign a couple of players that Lopetegui knows from Spain, no major big money ones but solid signings that improve us

Blimey, that little guy on the end looks like Adolf Hitler.

So my (possibly wonky) maths says to achieve 40 points we’ll need just shy of 1.3 points per game over 23 games. Basically we need to be Fulham/ Brentford/ Palace after the restart. Not easy by any stretch, but not beyond the realms of possibility either.

And that’s assuming 18th gets anywhere near 38-39 points

Only 3 times in the last 20 years has 40 points been needed to stay 37-38 generally is enough.

I love how Wolves fans en masse seem to have taken to Julen without even kicking a ball.

Of course, a small part of that is desperation and relief! But it bodes well. He's a unifier, like peak Nuno

With him, us and the players together, we have a chance...

I really don't know about the "Wolves > World Cup" bit (with all due respect to the historical significance of the club). Surely international play still has some romance in Europe?
Clubs pay the wages and club managers will only care about their players.

Nothing new in that.

Don't forget Lopetegui was Span manager so will come at this from both angles.

Sometimes it does, but not for the next month or so.
Used to be better when it was the only time you saw world class players

Personally, from my POV international football is a sideshow to the real thing. I enjoy Euros and World Cups when they're on, but they don't come close to the everyday matter of Wolves. For me anyway

To Julen, most important thing is the club. Would suggest some vague info been given him on Raul and if he was in charge he probably would not have sanctioned 3 weeks in Mexico and another week away (creating the scenes where Mexico pissed everyone off and triggered Twitter Wolves by naming him on the bench)

Its not to suggest he is doing a Fergie and its club and the rest can do one. Just laying out Wolves are first in his view.

If he's prioritised playing in the WC rather than playing for Wolves, which you can certainly infer, then people will be really pissed off and deservedly so. If the rumours of delaying an operation until afterwards are true we've absolutely been had over and we'd be better off with him gone imo. Time will tell if there's anything in that or not.

All really positive stuff so far . Hard not to warm to the man .

He did however refer more than once to the ' actors on the pitch ' .

Our defence will improve , our togetherness will improve , our overall team approach - but we simply can't score goals right now , and that is his biggest challenge .
Look at the other teams around us ( Southampton , Forest , Everton , West Ham ) - those 4 teams have not exactly been shooting the lights out either , but they have scored more - not by a massive amount mind you .

One interesting aspect - West Ham , Everton and Forest have decided to go into this break without changing their Manager . We and Southampton have made the switch............could that be the decisive difference , in that we will have the head start with a quality individual who commands respect .
Everton and West Ham are asking their players to work under the same men who are struggling to get a tune out of their players so far . Moyes has good form in dragging teams out of trouble , Lampard far less experience in that regard .
Southampton have made a very brave move which could go either way .

There are other teams too that could get dragged in ( Leeds , Bournmouth ) .

It's far from over - but we need to start scoring goals . We are doomed without that .

One final thing - Emery......an ordinary enough team in Villa are suddenly beginning to win . New Manager bounce , and he had no World Cup window as of yet .
