It really is the cheap way to go. You get about 15-20 miles on a charge and that's plenty of cycling for most people. a 4 hour charge time means you can charge it to get you too and from work and 15 miles is not unreasonable at 15 mph or better especially during rush hour. Not so much now the nights are drawing in , but spring and summer is perfect. I spent under £300 pounds converting mine and its a solid reliable bike.I gave away my old hybrid bike - really wish I'd kept it and done an e-bike conversion on it.
I agree, as I said above in theory everyone should be able to stop without a drama but reality is different. Turning from a fast, main road into a side junction where pedestrians have right of way is madness and imo could lead to more injuries to pedestrians and more rear end shunts.Really not a fan of the idea of stopping turning left for a pedestrian waiting to cross. If you want that put a pedestrian crossing in tend yards from the junction where that can happen without the risk of someone driving into the rear of the car that has stopped for a pedestrian in the middle of a manouvre he has signalled to car users he is completing.
Exactly. Just what I said and my biggest concern.Really not a fan of the idea of stopping turning left for a pedestrian waiting to cross. If you want that put a pedestrian crossing in tend yards from the junction where that can happen without the risk of someone driving into the rear of the car that has stopped for a pedestrian in the middle of a manouvre he has signalled to car users he is completing.
or, you're spouting bollocks:

Yep, pedestrians using phones, listening to music are not attentive at the best of times and now we give them (perceived) licence to step out into the road...Tbh, there's not much difference between the new laws and the old, in fact I already interpreted the the old rules as the new are laid out pretty much.
The 'riding two abreast' law has been tweaked, that Guardian piece suggests the old one was a bit vague, personally I think it was simpler before and could lead to misunderstanding.
I think the slight change to pedestrians crossing at junctions could lead to some people having a false sense of security and would rather more attention was paid to making every individual aware of their personal responsibilities.
Of course if everyone paid attention to the first part of rule 126 i.e. drive at a speed that will allow you to stop well within the distance you can see to be clear, then many accidents and near misses could be averted.
Apologies if all that makes me sound a bit pretentious and 'holier than thou' I'm just interested in that stuff.....doesn't mean I don't make mistakes and drive perfectly all the time.
the best one today was a motorised wheelchair in town on a dual carriageway using her mobile phone.Yep, pedestrians using phones, listening to music are not attentive at the best of times and now we give them (perceived) licence to step out into the road...
