The Transfer Thread 2018/19 - everything not Wolves

on paper - Fulham's is the best for me.

West Ham have recruited very well and I expect them to do well this season. Liverpool's recruitment has been excellent but like Fulham I don't think they've strengthened their back line enough to compete with the likes of City. Everton have had a good couple of additions that have given them balance and a decent manager. Arsenal have quietly gone about improving their defence and did most of their good recruitment in January with Aubemeyang and Mkhitarian. Brighton have done OK and with a lot of players not many will have heard of.

I think we've had a good window picking up two world class players.

I think we'll be candidates if we strengthen defensively before Thursday, but I don't quite think we're there yet.

West Ham's a decent shout, but their most important signing was the manager.

Martyn Waghorn is at Derby ahead of a deal, understood to be £5m with the potential to reach £7.5m.
Meh. Why wouldn't they just pay it all up front if he's any good?.....

Deliberately missing the point I see. Why pay MORE than a release clause...

Taking it away from the thread but because Wolves weren't happy with the terms of the release clause. For whatever reason and none of us will have a clue why and can only guess and scratch our heads the club did'nt want to pay the required £18m in one go. When that happens the rules change. Release clauses aren't just "pay this amount any way you want and he is all yours". Boro went for the Spanish style clause where all of it has to be paid in 1 go (like PSG had to do with Neymar), technically they possibly could have rejected our bid as it didn't meet the terms of the release clause (Like Liverpool did when Arsenal bid for Suarez) so that is where the extras come in.

I’m not as sold on Everton, their preseason results are poor with their defence looking extremely suspect (so they’re gambling a bit on Mina/Lascelles and Digne hitting the ground running). Richarlison is a gamble for someone who hasn’t sustained good performances over a season and strikes me as being easy to unsettle whether by fan criticism or transfer interest. Silva is good but we need to see him sustain good results for an entire campaign without drama and Everton fans will be wildly expectant - he also has the continuing litigation between Watford and Everton hanging over his head.

Going forward, they may be better placed but Walcott and Tosun flatter to deceive and it’ll be interesting to see where Lookman ends up as he’s a great talent but Everton (for me) don’t have an impressive centre or a star man to dictate (looking st CDM and CM rather than Sigurdsson’s preferred CAM position)

Witsel signs for Dortmund, seems decent value at 20m.

Think the problem is his billion in wages though.

7.5m a year I think I saw, pricey but not obscene in today's market.

Santi Cazorla has passed his trial period and reached an agreement to play for Villarreal this season, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Yep, apparently Pogba/Raiola want the move, but Utd have rejected it.

Pogba apparently put in a transfer request today.

Lucas Perez going to West Ham by the look of it. Why Arsenal ever bought him is beyond me, wasted two years of his career there.

They should sell both to us then offer all the money for an actual great player
