wouldn't say happy is the word, more blessed relief tbh...
mrs jelly hasn't been well for a while. was pretty certain she was diabetic some time ago. getting her to the docs to have full ranges of tests was quite challenging for a variety of reasons. Finally managed to get her in.
So they do various tests. Yes, diabetes is pretty much nailed on, however there are also numerous urgent 2 week referrals owing to "anomalies" with bones, liver, kidneys and so on. Obviously urgent 2 week referrals only happen when they suspect cancer (she's had cancer before, and had to go through intense treatments previously). Sadly, the doctors did not tell her of these concerns (tip for doctors - we can read your notes on the NHS app, including the bits where you write that you have told the patient of your concerns!)
Anyhoo, after ultrasounds, examinations, and CT scans, we've thankfully been informed today that the anomalies are down to the late diagnosis of diabetes - nothing sinister. Whilst there is damage there, it now won't get any worse, and importantly, it isn't life threatening.
Mrs jelly has brilliantly got her diabetes under control very quickly (given my dad was diagnosed in 1980, there's a great deal of knowledge and info in the family!)
There have been 6 weeks or so of genuine concern, worry and fear. She deserves so much better, as she's such an amazing woman. Now we know her health can be managed, at least we can look forwards together, in the hope the time we have isn't too limited.
