The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

Bit of a sad git one but anyway… electric toothbrush not charging. Bloody things not designed to be taken apart and repaired, and besides, I’m a bit crap with anything electronic/electrical anyway.

Some random guy on YouTube uploads his attempts to overcome the same issue so decide to have a go. With the phone camera as a magnifier and not really sure what I was looking at, spotted a loose wire to the coil. A tiny little bit of solder later, a carefully reassemble and bingo!

Got to be pleased with saving 70 notes, not to mention keeping more crap out of landfill and that feeling of beating the system too.

I know it’s an odd one but what the heck, you have to take your wins where you can. Well chuffed.

Ya boring old twat😀
Seriously though, I love a fix on anything electrical or mechanical, it's a good feeling.

How things used to be too. (And I was born in the 80s)

Built to last and/or repairable, now we just dispose and replace. It doesn't sit well with me either 👴

As an aside, we Sainsbury's/Argos have a WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) policy.

A lot of people think it only involves old batteries But when buying a new item we will recycle your existing one and keep it out of landfill.

You can do it on the day of purchase or within 28 days.

Obviously not needed now but one for future if something's "proper fucked".

Fair play. Me + a soldering iron = carnage.
I’d struggled with mine on and off for years, but it was a big clumsy fat-tipped thing. Knew I’d need a very fine one for this and the £10 spent at screwfix for their most basic model was a great investment. I know everyone goes on about the right tools for the job but that baby was a game changer.

Ha, yes, glad someone else gets it. I’m not bad at all mechanically, but with electrics, other than wiring a plug I’m pretty much done. Have done say, ceiling light replacements in the past but only if it’s exactly like-for-like wiring. If the new unit had an extra wire for e.g. that’s it, I’m stuffed.

On that note, I’m trying to get lighting in my shed/workshop at the end of the garden and am getting in a bit of a pickle. I’ll pop something on the DIY thread shortly and any thoughts would be welcome.

Yeah I'm better mechanically than I am with electrickery, all seems a bit witchcrafty to me.
