Son’s first cricket match this evening at the local club. All the other lads were the year above and his only practice aside from the last couple of weeks has been with me in the back garden. Took three wickets in his second over! Best was my cricket mad Dad is still about to get on the phone and hear all about it.

Three wickets in one over is great going.

Reminds me of my own almost glory when playing for the school team. I was a decent bowler (right arm medium/fast) and we played another local school. I had two wickets in two balls, including their captain for a duck on the 2nd ball. I then bowled a pearler of a delivery just drifting away outside off stump which the batsman wafted at, and edged it right into the hands of the second slip who never even had to move and..... he dropped it! I was fuming with him for weeks!!

Double whammy for me, arrived in Lanzarote this morning for eight days of all inclusive indulgence then had a call from my Solicitor a couple of hours ago to say the sale of my late Dad’s house has been completed.

I opened an email from Wolves and, this time, the contents actually made me happy!

After a double take I realised they had used a photo of my daughter on her mascot day to promote the summer footy schools. This landed VERY well with my daughter, especially dealing with another bit of bullying for having ginger hair. She can now tell all her mates she is a model

My youngest, still in year 1, played his first match for Stafford CC u8s today. Did really well, little nervous at first but got some decent runs. Shame about the weather though.

My eldest at last got a permanent job today, pleased cos he was getting fed up with supply work. It's at a fee paying school but that's all that's available due to the bonkers system of employing teachers in Scottish state schools.

Resorts World Brum. I think the last time I saw them was either Donington or the Civic, both cracking gigs. Obviously it's not going to be the same without Dime or Vinnie but just to hear them live again will be amazing. Nobody beats Dime, absolute genius.

Had a short drive and a great walk around clee hill today, first time I've attempted anything like it since having a triple bypass. Felt fantastic afterwards, Malvern hills next week.
