The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

My grandfather on my father's side surrendered some decent stuff to his brother (or it might have been cousin thinking about it) in his father's will that passed down the other side of that family. A fucking great chunk of Temple Bar in Dublin for a start.

Shit. Could have been absolutely fucking loaded.

Traced my moms side back a fair bit and back a few generations in Ireland,my dads side nothing before his parents we've traced his siblings who don't want anything to do with us,him and two of his brothers always said they were given away while the other brothers and sisters weren't,I'm 54 and never spoken to them, only knew the two brothers who went with him,and all 3 of them never talked about the family or their past, all very weird

My brother had trouble reconciling the dates of birth of a somewhat distant relative of my Mum & the dob of their children - after research it could be proved that they were married at 12 (though this was in the 1830's)

Plenty several many generations back, our family owned most of the land around Tettenhall Rock and the bottom of Tettenhall Road, until one dickhead pissed and gambled it all away!

When you wake up to Hi Ho Silver Lining on the radio and you just can't help yourself from joining in with your arms in the air :)

Miss you Wolves.

Nice one Ray. I've got a new staircase, 18 new doors on, a stone wall demolished, hall stairs and landing walls sanded ready for painting, and a tidy garden. I reckon all the wives/girlfriends/ partners are enjoying getting jobs done by their men during these times :icon_lol:

Sitting in the late(r) afternoon sun looking at the apple tree & lilac tree in full blossom - patio doors fully open & good music coming of the record deck (just waiting for the complaints re music choice).

Did my chosen chores this morning so not feeling guilty at all.

Started having a daily paper again since lockdown started. Quite enjoying having 10 minutes to read the paper in the morning again.

A delivery of books yesterday. A surprise lockdown gift off hubby :)

Getting the Now TV stick to work properly again so that I can watch on a reasonable sized screen rather than having to rely on the PC

Phase 2 completed

Looking good ! When I worked on building supplies we christened those slabs 'council killers' for a reason :)
Have you painted a mural of a lady on that outhouse, like Banksy ??

Being able to do my good deed for the day - am operating & phone & timed collect for equipment from the charity shop for the disabled/elderley.

A rollater (wheeled walker with a seat) & an indoor walking frame & shower seat. All will help frail people not falling & broken hips are not what they or the NHS needs right now (or any time really).

(all gifted S/H equipment that we have refurbished so cheap as well)

Thank you. TBF those slabs were there from a previous activity (when I was a few years younger and stronger), and yes they are the old council pcc paving slabs, 3'-0" x 2'-0" x 2.5". Heavy bastards.

There was a brief time I could lift and carry two of those a short distance. Recently I lifted and carried one and it crippled me.

There's been a bloke dressed as Spider-Man doing the rounds actually on the top of a van on our estate, just to cheer the kids up during lockdown,we've now got Spider-Man,batman,dead pool and the mask on/in the van, tonight they were followed by an ambulance and people collecting for Birmingham children's hospital.
Such a silly little thing to do,but it's really cheered the estate up

spent the evening doing 'whats app' quizzes with my children & partners. Quite entertaining.

Nearer to 75kg each. I remember getting some for my Dad when I worked for Stafford BC. They were 10p each (second hand ex footpath) and I had to handball them all!
