The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

Yeh I've seen what you've said on the other thread and I'm sure everyone here has your back and wants to support you. It's a hard decision for you Dan but I'm sure it will work out for you.

I always sort something out mate, despite being a total mess at times. I think you need to decide what you want to do though, call centre work is fine to pick up a few sheckels (I've done it myself) but what do you WANT to do?

I want to do administration / Team leader roles and I was destined for those positions before I had to leave my previous job. I know within the call centre environments they can build you up to these roles but it is a case of I need a job now more than ever. I am very happy to take £7.49 an hour at 19 with the chance to progress.

Don't tie yourself into that job mate, they're ten a penny. Seriously, people who get tied into that environment are dicks.

You must have a skill. I mean I survive in the thinnest leaf there is. Translation. Most firms think Google Translate will do. Because itt's free and 12% accurate. So I get the 88% scraps.

88% scraps sounds horrible, I'm gonna just try and get this job in a call centre. Then because I'm working and got some money in my back pocket etc and look about to see what I want to do.

Honestly the skills I have are pretty much wasted because I never really followed them out of school. I wanted to be a sports teacher or a Nurse in school but no I was told by my parents to get a job and just go from there. Without a job I wouldn't have my car or money so they were right to push me towards getting a job.

You're only 19 James. You can go to college and retrain at any point you might just need to save up for a bit first. Even then you can study part time and work alongside.

I wouldn't settle for something that is 'just a job' if you have ambitions to do something else you want to do. You've for a lot of time to sort yourself out.

I think that's what I'm going to do, to be fair. I am going to save some more money sort my car out and learn while I work. I have an idea of what I want to do and how to do it. Within 12 months I am going to take my football coaching badges etc.

James, if nursing is something you are still interested in then maybe you might consider a job as a community carer? The jobs are usually advertised in the E&S but also try a nursing agency and you have the advantage of being a car driver and owner which would be in your favour. Caring is more interesting and varied than many people think. These days carers have a lot of training opportunities and qualifications you can undertake if you wish to. At the very least you can try your hand at it and then if you decide that you want to pursue nursing as a career you can keep working and you would get a bursary to supplement your income. Nursing degrees are still funded by the government. Once you are qualified as a nurse the possibilities are endless.

Cheers for the advice Squeeze I will definitely look into that.

James, this call centre isn't the 3rd largest in Swansea is it?

I'd have to kill that twat within five minutes of meeting him, such a cunt. And he knows he's a cunt too, he fucking parades it.

Not James.

I dislike that show :D

In other news I'm happy that i've found somewhere that sells Darkside skittles.

That programme is amazing. I love chavs and knobheads though :D

James, at 19 you've got your whole life ahead of you, although money is important, enjoying what you do is as important for your long term wellbeing, earning a fortune and hating every minute of it is not the way forward, Ive had the same job for the last 24 years, its pays very well (I do like to think Im quite good at it ) But I neither hate it or love it, its just a means to an end, but I still have that nagging in the back of my mind that I should have done what I enjoy doing, although I would have been a lot worse off financially, follow whatever your dream is matey, the initial hardships will be far outweighed in the long run, whatever your career path I wish you all the luck in the world :)
