The Things You Are HAPPY About Thread.

No, still non-the-wiser. Thankfully the only TV Bea likes is Family Guy and Pointless :D

Mr Tumble is great. Belle isn't fussed but I like watching it! She'd rather watch NumTums or Special Agent Oso (yes, I know all the CBeebies programmes!)

The longer I can put all this off, the better.

And that shocking realisation, that the kids have left the room and you're still watching their programmes :)

Now my two are older I get to watch Horrible Histories and The Amazing world of gumball. The freakiest show by far though is Adventure Time... Adult humour subtext in a drug induced world with a talking yellow dog and a vampire. Pass the bong.

Yes but there is some good stuff on there though...

(as I drag the kids back into the room)

Just got in after having lunch at the Bell Trysull, Bathams, Glow, roast lamb, got the cricket on, how long before I nod off.

5 4 3 2 1 zzzz!

A glorious afternoon in the West Country with clear blue skies.

Was clearing a part of the garden which was overgrown, but have now decided to sit in the sun with a nice glass of something.

Simple pleasures!!

I'm with Deutsch on this. I can never understand what motivates people to go and sit outside in it just because the sun is out. Bring on the sunburn and skin cancer!! Yeah!

Depends on the temperature - approx. 75f here now (I don't do new money) with a light breeze & a bit of shade from the trees.

Warm enough to sit out in shorts & T shirt, but not so hot as to cause problems or sunburn etc.

Much happier than last weekend when we were subjugated to lashing rain & hailstorms!

Temperature has nothing to do with the amount of UV radiation you receive. As long as it's a relatively clear day and you have direct sunlight then you can be burnt and/or receive high levels of UV exposure.

Whilst I agree - it happens so rarely here that it is a pleasant experience on the odd occasions that it happens when I am in a position to enjoy it.

I don't do well in extreme heat & tend to avoid, but for once let me enjoy a beautiful sunny afternoon overlooking an (on the whole) well kept garden & reflect on the hard work I have put into it without feeling the need to get up and do anything else today.

So long as you are sitting in shade then I'm ok with it :icon_wink:

I'm not being critical of anyone that does it, people can do what they like. I'm just trying to understand the mentality behind it. I see it all the time, even at work. People will go and have their lunch break outside on a bench because the sun is out. I just don't comprehend the appeal. I guess us humans do plenty of things that we know is bad for us because it feels good.

Because a sun tan makes you feel good about yourself. Fairly simple really.

I'm not someone who goes looking for it and am not a 'sunseeker', but after the Spring we have had here (which was more like winter) a day like today lifts the spirit - especially when I do not need to do anything except enjoy it.

Agreed. We had a long, cold summer, followed by a dismal spring, so to have the sun on our backs is great. We have been on the beach today, and I must confess to having had a drink in the Dunes pub, which overlooks the beach.

I'm sure you enjoyed it Frank.

The fact that I can go out to water the veg at 6.15pm with still a little sun around is a pleasure. Normally the rain has done it for me.

Oh I absolutely love sunny days and warm weather as I hate the cold. That's not my issue.

No interest in a sun tan though. The sun on your skin does feel nice if you happen to be out in it, I just wouldn't go and sit in it for the sake of it.

I fucking love the sun and have had an awesome day on the Severn Valley Railway - lovely scenery, relaxing journey and lots of ale. The kids bloody loved it too.

I don't know of a better family day out.

I've spent the day on my roof terrace reading a book drinking bottles of Carlsberg and I've had a great day. I dont go out in the sunshine to get a tan, I go out because its pleasant and I enjoy being outside as much as possible. And having a sun tan is far better than having a wankers tan.

I assume steam trains - which bring out the child in all of us (at least the male half of the populace - & I am old enough, just, to remember them in general use) add in beer (for the adults as I assume you are not feeding your kids on alcoholic beverages yet) then it would have made for a great day out.
