Great effort from Edmund.

Rafa retires injured, real shame for him. Federer could be on for another grand slam, astonishing. He's 37 this year!

Take a bow Cameron Norrie. Only turned pro a year ago, first Davis cup game, first pro match on red clay and he's come from 2 sets down to win to draw Great Britain level against a Spain. Well done that man!

Stunning win against a player knocking on the door of the world's Top 20

Stat time: With Federer and Djokovic both losing their opening match in Miami this week and Nadal and Murray both absent, this is the first time since the 2004 Paris Masters that none of the Big Four have won a match at a Grand Slam, Tour Finals or Masters 1000 tournament.

How many of them played in that event? Murray and Djokovic wouldn't have been there, Nadal won his first French title in 05 so may have been around, Fed already had won Slams by then so presuming he played.

Top stat by the way, the levels and records those 4 set are truly incredible.

Congratulations to Kyle Edmund who will now break into the World Top 20 after beating Novak Djokovic at the Madrid Open.

Konta and Ostapenko both out on day one of Roland Garros.

Edmund through comfortably, Serena had to fight a little harder but also through in straight sets.

Heather Watson won yesterday as did Cameron Norrie.

Edmund out in five sets to Fognini. Disappointing, he should have gone deep here. Fortunately for him he doesn't lose any ranking points as he was only defending a third round exit from last year.

Classy time to do it rather than deprive someone of getting a place if he did it in a day or two.
