The Tennis Thread

Good game this. Obviously they aren't top ten players but they are very closely matched and it is making for good viewing.

I quite enjoy the fan of Vanni who keeps shouting "ayyy" in an Itallian/Fonz style every time he wins a long rally :icon_lol:

British number two player Aljaž Bedene has just beaten Radek Stepanek in 5 sets.
Lots of "Brits" getting into round two this year

UKIP are fucking furious. Nigel Farage has thrown his strawberries and pimms down in disgust and gone in search of the great british pint

Why the hell have they changed the format of the highlights show to make it resemble a sodding chat show?

Cringeworthy.

Some ten year old yoghurt knitting, spunknugget of a Beeb work experience tool, fresh from never having a job anywhere had an idea and it was ok'd in a meeting resembling a W1A script.

Sport on the Beeb is a total mess and has been for the last year or so.

Were they trying to do the tennis version of Match of the Day?

Meanwhile, Broady lost the first set of his match in a tie break and got annihilated in the second...

Clare Balding-fronted programme featuring tweets, chat and clips criticised by people wanting to just see actual footage of tennis being played

That first line is spot on - just show the bloody tennis!!!

It's a tournament that IMO fully warrants a decent highlights show each day, as so many people have to work and although they might know the results, seeing some of the action is the most important. I don't give a fuck about the host fawning over Henman/Navratilova.

There was nothing wrong with the old format.

Apart from John Inverdale? Not alot.

Guess they are trying to target the younger audience...
