The Summer 2018 Transfer Thread

He played well in pretty much every match that he played up to Preston at home (after coming in due to Boly's injury). Then he had a mare in the second half there, was shaky at QPR and didn't really play much after that. Was good at Leeds, rubbish at Villa.

Batth was alright when he was in the team early on but nothing more. He was dreadful in that Preston second half and again at QPR. He put himself in a stupid position to be sent off at Bristol City and he wasn't good at Leeds which is an argument i saw a few times last season, he was ok but had nothing to do because we controlled the game and Leeds had nothing but to hoof it at Lasogga. He was then unbelievably bad at Villa and then poor in every game after that. We battered Bolton and he still looked dreadful, the one pass to Doherty down the line will always be a highlight.

If anyone is happy having Batth even just as back up then no one can say anything about Doherty as in their respective positions they play in this team then Doherty is ahead by quite a long way. I hated Doherty as a full back and always thought he'd do much better further forward but he's surprised me quite a lot, we do need better but he's more than capable of playing in this team if we need him to and will be better than Batth.

Wouldn’t want any of them. We’ve got better than Welbeck and Campbell for the positions they could possibly play and Jenkinson is dreadful.

I wouldn't mind Welbeck at all. Campbell I like and think he, Cav, Costa, and Jota would be a hell of a group to choose from for our wide forwards.

I'd have taken Jenkinson a couple of years ago, not now though. Welbeck is broken more often than not.

Tbf i do like welbeck, but our centre forward needs to have a great first touch and be able to lay the ball of quickly and accurately. Welbeck doesn't do that and rashford can't do that.

Sounds like we’re edging closer to signing John Super Mario.

Agree with this completely, the Villa game was the straw that broke the camels back for me.

Some of the criticism Batth gets on here is ridiculous.

He's a mid-table Championship centre-half. He's good in the air, and will win his fair share of challenges but apart from that he has not a lot going for him. If he hadn't come through the academy and been a local lad, I don't think anyone would care. In no way is he good enough for the Prem, even as a back-up.

Fucking hell - I really hope we sign someone today.
