Hello guys!
So i was absent from the boards for some time but it was for a good reason. I was too busy being a dad
Sorry for the few PM i missed!
First of all, let me congratulate you for the amazing Chamionship run so far. I have to be honest...never expected NES to be doing this good.
So now for the good part! Lets talk about the recent names linked with Wolves here in Portugal (i believe most are also talked about in UK by now).
Andre Silva
Andre Silva story is a good one. It starts a few years ago when Porto hired a Dutch manager called Co Adrianse. Porto wanted to replicate a little bit the Dutch clubs and start to feed their first team with players from the academy. So after Adrianse arrived he reached to a conclusion very fast: there was some really good talent in the academy but all strikers were crap (no surprise here...remember that world class portuguese striker?....yeh me neither). So he decided to bring a Dutch coach whose work would be teach the kids in the academy from very young age to become proper strikers. Co Adrianse is gone from Porto for some years now but that Dutch coach still works there. And Andre Silva was the first product to come out of that (there was this guy before him called Gonçalo Paciencia but he is not that good). So Andre is clearly the best portuguese striker of his generation. Does that make him a guy who can score 20 goals in PL with Wolves? Well i dont think so. We cant judge him for his season in Milan since he picked a tough league for a young striker and he has a crap manager who doesn't believe in him but he still has a lot of talent and he is one of those strikers who can be involved in the team playing construction.
Talisca
Talisca...imagine that Rivaldo would have a son with Paul Gascoigne...and here you have Talisca. The guy has a lot of talent and can be deadly if used correctly. He is a free kick specialist, a fantastic long shot, his finishing improved a lot and even his heading is at a top striker level. However...his brain is the size of a pea. He easily starts conflicts, his loyalty is close to zero. Ill give you an example which is the reason he is not in Benfica squad: when Jorge Jesus left Benfica and joined Sporting, Talisca was actually feeding Jesus with Benfica's inside info... Also, although he is still under Benfica contract, he talks trash about the club everytime he can. He actually score against Benfica last year in the champions league and he celebrated like a cup winner goal. Didnt help him that much since Benfica went through and Besiktas was off to Europa League. Recent news say that Besiktas wants to pay their 25M priority clause to keep him there and quite honestly...Wolves does not miss much.
Pizzi
Pizzi is...a good player. But its not easy to describe him actually and still up to this day im not sure which place in the pitch suits him better. He started his career as a winger. He joined Benfica after a bad season with Atletico Madrid and he didnt play much when he first arrived. Then Benfica sold Enzo Perez (a fantastic CM) to Valencia and the board didnt give a sh*t to find a replacement. So Jorge Jesus decided to use Pizzi as a CM and it actually worked. He has been playing there most of the time for quite a few seasons now. Pizzi is capable of the very best and the very worse. Some games he can be the guy to solve the match with tremendous goal or some other games he shows terrible passing skills and seems like he is hidding from the ball. At 28 years old i think Wolves would be a good option for him. I dont see him playing much next year here (if Benfica manages not to sell Krovinovic and Zivkovic) and Wolves would get an experienced player who could be useful in the PL. Warning: i dont think he would fit Wolves current formation. He needs 2 guys playing with him in the midfield or otherwise the guy playing behind him would be in trouble. His defensive workrate is not that good. For a fee of around 25M euros i would take him to the airport myself.
Bonus content
So i know some of you like to browse the portuguese league smaller clubs looking for hidden gems so here are the some guys that i think that could easily play in the PL:
-Maras - a serbian CB playing for Chaves. He is just 22 and he has been amazing this season. Strong, fast and with good technique and already a serbian international. His partner in crime is crap and Chaves is still doing good this season so that tells a lot about him.
-Lucas Envagelista - brazilian playmaker playing for Estoril. This guy impressed me a lot. He destroyed Sporting and Porto (well Porto until the fans invaded the pitch at half time, claiming the stadium was tearing apart, when Porto was 1-0 down and playing like crap. Match got postponed and Porto ended up winning 3-1 with the second half being played 1 month later..guess what..the stadium was fine). He his not very fast but his technique and passing are fantastic. Remember a guy called Alex who used to play for Fenerbache a few years ago and Taison who plays for Shakhtar? He seems like a mix of both i guess.
Well any questions...just shoot! I would be glad to help.
