A 3-0 win away at Freiburg yesterday for St Pauli. No, I don't know where that came from either.

Gives a three point buffer to the bottom two of Kiel and Bochum who so far look authentically terrible.

Is their coach any good?

Well he has won at least one league game...

Losing Hürzeler was clearly huge. 16th and take your chances in the playoff (the top flight team normally wins) would be an absolute result IMO.

GAK bottom of the Austrian Bundesliga with 0 wins from their opening 8 games, with their fierce local rivals top of the league.

Too fucking familiar.

We nearly let it slip away in the last ten minutes, but with a 4-3 win over Chicago last night, Charlotte FC have clinched their first ever playoff appearance. :giggle:

Don't let anyone tell you we made the playoffs last season. The 8th v 9th "play-in" game doesn't count, and even if it did, we got smoked so badly we may as well not have made the trip to New Jersey.

Side note: BofA always looks empty as fuck for midweek matches, but I promise there were 25k in there.

Sorry for the lack of updates btw. Been a weird/rough couple of months.

Still owe CLD that USSF breakdown…

Charlotte have just totally outclassed an iffy but red hot Montréal side 2-0 at BofA.

Things may be clicking into place after a very rocky start to life with Ream, though he still looks nothing like what the club would have expected.

Okay “totally outclassed” was maybe a hypedrunk exaggeration. But we kept a clean sheet so.

Absolutely crackling energy in BofA as Montréal pressed in the last ten minutes, and Patrick’s clincher with nigh the final kick released all of it in one beautiful moment.

Still in a weird moment with my sport enjoyment, but this was a nice reminder of how it can feel on a good day.

A 3-0 home defeat to Mainz for St Pauli, never in the game by the look of it.

Kiel got a very surprising point at Leverkusen (despite being 2-0 down after 8 minutes) so they have made up some ground, Bochum are still anchored to the bottom of the table and Hoffenheim will remain in the bottom three unless they win at Stuttgart later.

Dortmund away next which you can't see a positive result from.

A 2-1 loss at Dortmund. The winner coming in the 83rd minute.

Great goal by Eric Smith though.

Wolfsburg (H)
Hoffenheim (A)
Bayern München (H)
Gladbach (A)
Kiel (H)

Bayern aside, that's a run where we simply have to pick up points. All the others are in the bottom half currently.

Previous manager seems to be smashing it at Brighton 5th in the league with a lay up next week

Dylan Peraic-Cullen CCM's youngest ever starting goalkeeper, and the youngest in A-League Men’s history to keep a clean sheet when starting!

0-0 vs Wolfsburg.

Goals are a real problem (5 in 8 games, and 3 came in 1 game) but every point is a prisoner, as Mick used to say.

Bochum have Bayern tomorrow so they'll probably lose.

My FM game is creeping into real life

So in the spirit of my game

"Can't see why people are getting carried away after this result"

"All those fans obsessed with goals scored...look at defence, still weak"

My lad plays for Allscott Heath 😅 The first team had a good year last year but fallen off a cliff this season, conceded 9 a couple of weeks ago in addition to this 8

He will be in the 1st team soon

First ever playoff match for Charlotte tonight (as I’ve said before, last year’s play-in embarrassment doesn’t count). Trying to get excited! Been hard lately (for a lot of things, not just Charlotte).

We’ve finished the season strong and Orlando, our opponents, cooled off quite a bit as the final weeks wound down.

First round is the wacky “no draws, best of 3” style series, which is still weird in football but I stand by that it actually works out tremendously for the spectacle as it really cuts down on the cagey elements of most knockout matches. Even outmatched teams have to give it a proper go; no point worrying about GD or going into damage control, you only stand to get anything out of it by going on the attack. That can lead to absolute pastings (shout outs to Connor Ronan and Colorado getting eviscerated last night by the Galaxy, 0-5 and outshot 1-18) but I think that jives with UK sensibilities. Don’t think ‘04 Greece could have got out of this style of group stage!

Anywho. Hopefully some positive reports to come in the morning.

Good luck Alan.

I’ve just seen that the managerial genius of Phil Neville strikes again. Fluked his way into the MLS play offs as a wild card and then lost 5-0 at home FFS 🤣
