The Rugby Thread

That’s a really hard one to take, yep we’d probably have been beaten next week. I fucking despise SA as rugby nation.

It fell apart from getting the scrum deep in their 22 when 9 points up. Penalty conceded from the scrum and nearly every one afterwards.
Heartbreaking to lose.

To be fair I shouldn't comment as I watched absolutely zilch of it as it's one of the most boring sports on the planet.

It'd be like watching an NFL game where a team gets within 10 yards of the red zone then just kicks a field goal every time.
Yes. Exactly like that. Looking forward to your massive insights in the future.

The better team won just, went through I won’t deny, but I’m not going to pretend I’m not gutted anyone would losing 2 minutes from time. No way England would’ve got away with the same tactics next weekend.

This would be like me commenting on American football when I don't understand it, don't watch it or don't like it.

Oh I watched plenty of it when it was the five nations and it was the only sport on TV on a Saturday.

Any sport where actively kicking the ball out of play is a good idea is never gonna be for me.

I'm channelling my inner KentWolf so apologies.

Is this the same NFL that takes approximately 3 hours to complete a game when there’s only 60 minutes of play?

As I said I shouldn't have commented as I would agree NFL at times can also be as boring as all hell and often goes on far too long.

You’re gonna have to explain to me what that means, whenever I’m watching union I never understand what half the penalties are given for.

That is boring in. Basically not scrummaging straight and should be a penalty offence against the Boks.

Basically SA use the scrum as a penalty maker now completely what it was not invented for. They’ve very early realised that the ref is not penalising them for not being straight.
They know there pack is stronger than everyone else’s so exploit it, calling for a scrum instead of making the mark is classic example. On that front I’ve no problems in it and the officials not picking up offences isn’t their problem.
England played the way they did to try and progress it would’ve unravelled next Saturday unfortunately.

Perversely, SA ended up being rewarded for how often they dropped the ball in contact as they knew the ref was very much on their side at scrum time.

New Zealand are no shrinking violets on the shithousery front and have been like that since time immemorial. Defensive ruck, send the hooker through the side and in front, from where he ambles back with arms in the air, to indicate he isn’t interfering, right in the channel between scrum half and fly half.

They also live in the referee’s ear.
