The Rugby Thread

Far be it for me to tell the IRB how to organise a tournament but the fixtures at the end of the group stage are:

Sat 10th - Australia vs Wales - Twickenham
Sat 10th - England vs Uruguay - Eastlands
Sun 11th - France vs Ireland - Cardiff

Erm, why couldn't we be at HQ, Wales at Cardiff and France/Ireland in Manchester?

Watching Italy v France - completely error strewn.

Just hope someone scores a try as no one seems able to put a penalty through the posts.

(Best 2 anthems though)

France finally find someone (or 2) who can kick & lead 9 - 0 at half time, but wouldn't worry about facing either of these sides. Enormous amount of errors from both.

Italy are fucking awful. There is hope for Wales to make up that points difference. However, England could easily put forty on France as well looking at that rubbish.

Agree that Italy are very poor - Wales will be salivating about the opportunity next week.

Though will come down to points difference - depends which France turns up v England

Don't forget Ireland are at home to Scotland. Really wish all three games were kicking off at the same time. As it is Ireland and Wales just have to score as many as humanly possible and set England a tough target.

The Italian national anthem is the best in the world.

Our game is at Murrayfield.

Really is wide open, I thought England had it in the bag before the Scotland game but those missed opportunities have given the other 2 a chance.

Agreed. I used to love hearing it every fortnight under the Schumacher/Ferrari years.

Ha. It was the only benefit of those five years!

Why are next weeks games not all kicking off at the same time?

Oh and I think the French anthem takes some beating.

One broadcaster has the rights and they want all rugby fans to see all three games, even to the detriment of the tournament. Ho hum. It is an advantage to England, but they possibly have the toughest game, so it may well even itself out.

If Wales or Ireland rack up a very big win then the pressure will be on England.

Not sure that it is such an advantage to England - as Frank said if Wales & Ireland rack up big points then puts real pressure on them.

They might well be better off going out at the same time knowing that they need to win & allowing the points to take care of themselves.

I still firmly believe Ireland are favourites. If they smash up Scotland then Wales have to score a bucketload. England have the toughest final game.
