The Rugby Thread

Had a feeling the hype around the game would get to Scotland more than it would England.
Just annoying I went to the game and missed this, watching the highlights it looked a non contest from the start.

I went to Twickers - was beautiful to watch - pace, power, slick handling - deserved every single point - Scotland were simply outgunned and overpowered. Jonathon Joseph was majestic, Courtney Lawes was an unstoppable force.

My Lions team -

Furlong
Best/George
M Vunipola
AWJ
Lawes/Launchbury
Stander
Warburton
B Vunipola
Webb
Sexton
Daly
Farrell
Joseph
North
Hogg

Hmmm

Going to be a long long debate about that one. Not sure Warburton is DEFINITELY ahead of say Tipuric.

One thing for sure - if you (in my opinion correctly) choose Hogg ahead of 1/2p, then you absolutely MUST have Farrell for the certainty of the kicking.

Rhys Webb is the best scrum half in terms of talent, but he needs to be more of a team player to be certain of the spot.

Plus I feel bloody sorry for the likes of Gray and Charteris. Playing great, but no way are they getting ahead of Lawes, Launchbury, AWJ.

Same as with Webb/Murray, you could switch Warburton for Tipuric, and the team would arguably be just as strong - probably best to look at it as a 23 rather than just a starting XV?

Difficult to see where he fits in, but I would have itoje in the team, possibly in the Lawes / Launchbury spot. He's already an excellent player, a born winner and brings so much to the loose. Harsh on Launchbury as he's been excellent.

At the moment, I've got Itoje on the bench - just don't think he's done enough to displace Lawes in 2nd row, or any of the starting flankers.

It's difficult as he's been playing out if position for England, but he's been magnificent at 2nd row for sarries and England before. Interesting that even when playing at 6, England prefer him to Lawes in 2nd row at scrums.

Its hard to even pick a captain at the minute, would be i think awj or warburton but neither is a guaranteed starter. I would fit ijote in someway probably at 2nd row plenty of options in the back row.
Very few nailed on starters for me Hogg, Joseph, Sexton (if he stays fit), Ijote and Furlong, I had Murray as well so surprised at comments here or maybe I have green tinted specks on. Havnt a clue who plays hooker a real weak spot

Two of France's biggest clubs are to merge Racing Metro & Stade Francise to form one superclub in Paris

Fraser Brown has been cited for his challenge on Elliot Daly on Saturday.

After smirking at the ref's decision to give him a yellow, I hope he is given an appropriate ban.

As clear a red card offence as you could want to see.

I bet Sam Warburton saw that and was seething about the world cup semi final.

Not so sure, I thought he put him on his back not neck. It was the follow up for me, following the tackle by deliberately landing on his head and then rolling on it afterwards to compound it. Very poor and glad he's been cited for it.

I though it was a red, but am quite glad he didn't get a red - it would have a been a ready made excuse for the result

Citing panel have said the tackle by Fraser Brown on Daly was not worthy of a red card, so no further punishment was necessary.

Brown is now free to play immediately.

Meanwhile, Elliot Daly has a broken nose from the follow through of Brown's tackle when his head hit him in the face, but he may be OK for Saturday's game against Ireland, according to Eddie Jones.

Personally, I feel that decision by the citing committee is bollocks. It was a late challenge that Brown lost control of which makes it dangerous. (If they feel he didn't lose control then it must have been a deliberate head butt.)
