The R.I.P. Thread

They're mostly drug addled, though, whether it's through 'roids or pain killers or meds to combat mental illness (much of the time bought on by the first two).

Terry Jones from Monty Python.

That has choked me right up. Python have been a massive part of my life since I was about 14 renting the VHS's of the TV show with my mate Kev.

Gutted. He'd been seriously ill with dementia for a while,at least he won't be suffering anymore

A very sad day indeed

Watching this live when originally televised - me & my brother falling off the sofa in hysterics with my father sitting there in confusion pleading to be told why it was funny. A big part of my youth

I've been watching a few of the old series back on Netflix recently. People love to say how so much of it was crap with only a few really good bits, but actually, while some of it doesn't always work, most of it is still bloody funny.

No some of it didn't, but that's true for all comedy (was the same for the Goon Show & Milligan's Q series which some of the princples for Python came out of) - still if you in the 'moment' is was the only thing worth watching.

Have a lot of stuff (films/shows) on DVD as a box set & still watch them - takes me back roughly 40 yrs.

Gutted. I love Monty Python. Terry Jones was one of the all time greats. :(

My father never did find out what was funny as we were laughing so much that we were incapable of talking anyway ;)

Can still picture in my mind the actual sofa my brother & I were falling off & the chair my father was in/layout of the room - this programme & Terry Jones involvment has seared it into my memory

I know exactly what you mean. I remember my mate's living room in the mid 80s watching the shows on VHS most Saturday afternoons and, like you say, literally falling off the sofa. The only thing that has come close to making me laugh that much is Derek and Clive.

like the series itself, this is a huge miss, RIP Terry you almost made me piss my pants more than once.
Knowing Python i bet the funeral is a gas, as he would have wanted it. sad sad day.

Rob Rensenbrink - outstanding Dutch footballer (Anderlecht and National team) from the 1970s - only 72.

Rumours his 4 daughters were on board with him, including his 6 month old. Awful, awful news

It has been reported Kobe and four others, assuming at least one is the pilot I'm hoping his children weren't involved.
