I grew up watching John Noakes, sad news.
 
Absolute legend,always remember him climbing nelsons column,having watched it again on YouTube utterly ridiculous and brave,no safety gear,old ladders tied to the column,and then gets lowered over the edge on a seat made of a plank of wood on two ropes! Another bit of our childhood gone
 
Roy Barraclough has passed away aged 81... Played "Cissie" alongside Les Dawson's "Ada" as well as "Alec Gilroy" in Coronation Street

I knew Les Dawson played the piano, but not that he did opera as well :icon_biggrin:

Alec Gilroy appeared in the programme back in the day when Coronation Street was head and shoulders above over soaps. And Alec along with likes of Jean Alexander were the reason for the popularity of the of programme.
